Home Secretary Alan Johnson has admitted that the government has made mistakes in handling immigration saying that Labour and Conservative administrations had been "maladroit" in dealing with the issue. Mr Johnson said parts of the UK had been "disproportionately" affected by immigration, with some areas seeing a "strain" on jobs and public services. Wow - no shit Sherlock! Mr Johnson said "The legacy problems with unreturned foreign national prisoners and asylum seekers may have accumulated under previous administrations, but they continued to be ignored for far too long on our watch." So Mr Johnson is trying to blame the Conservatives for the Labour Party's open door immigration policy and lack of border policing, you would have thought that twelve years would have been more than enough so sort it out. Having stated the bleedin' obvious he went back to cover his tracks by laughably saying the UK was now "more successful" at tackling migration than most countries in Europe and North America, he added. The Home Office said last week that up to 40,000 immigrants who should have left more than six years ago could still be in Britain. Mr Johnson went on to say: "I want to talk about immigration today, tomorrow, next week and on any occasion I can." If course he does, he wants to get the Labour voters out at the next election and he wants them to vote for anyone but the BNP. If he thinks that talking tough is enough he has another think coming. The British people want to see action not words, they are fed up with meaningless background chatter on immigration and points systems, they want out of Europe, close the doors, take stock of exactly who is here and get rid of the ones that shouldn't be here. Hearing Alan Johnson say :"people who come to live in the UK should learn the language, obey the laws and pay tax" made me wonder if he had decided to join the BNP.

More conflicting Police figures
Latest figures released have shown complaints against Northamptonshire Police officers have risen again despite a drive to improve confidence in the performance of the force. A report to Northamptonshire Police Authority's performance monitoring committee has shown there were 464 complaints against officers in the past six months, up by more than a third compared with the same period the year before. Complaints of neglect of duty rose by more than 50 per cent. In Northamptonshire West, which includes Northampton, Daventry and Towcester as well as the south of the county, there were 210 complaints made against officers. The police have invested significant time and money in propaganda to improve confidence following the introduction of a new Government target after a survey of residents found six in 10 people were unhappy with the work the force was doing to combat anti-social behaviour. However, the British Crime Survey reveals that 46.1 per cent of people said they strongly agreed or tended to agreed to the question about whether the Northamptonshire Police were dealing with crime and antisocial behaviour from July 2008 to June 2009, a 6.2 per cent increase from the same period the previous year. So the propaganda is working but more people are complaining!

Northampton attack
A 16-year-old girl has been assaulted and racially abused in an alley in Northampton at about 5.15pm on Thursday October 22. The girl was walking along the alleyway between Kettering Road and Greenfield Avenue when she was approached by a man and a woman in their early 40s. The man hit the girl with his elbow on her back and racially abused her. There is no mention of the nationality of the perpetrators or the victim. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the British National Party condemns all violent assaults regardless of the race, colour or creed of the victim. There is no place in civilised society for attacks on people because of the colour of their skin.

Vote early, Vote often
Northampton Borough Council are sending out canvassers to visit 25,000 properties over the next few weeks to ask residents to confirm information about who lives at the property. People who have not returned their voting registration form to Northampton Borough Council are the ones that can expect a knock at the door. Canvassers will be calling at houses to ask residents to confirm information about who lives at the property, their nationality and also to acquire a signature. In the borough of Northampton there are 95,000 properties, which the council must confirm occupants for in order to make up the electoral register. So far 69,615 (73.7%) of all properties have confirmed occupancy details by returning their registration form through the post (47,440), on the automated telephone system (11,242) or via the Internet (11,933). Telephone and online registrations have increased slightly and postal returns are down by 4,000 on last year but this is considered to have been affected by the postal strikes. If you have not returned your information to your local authority, wherever you are in the county, please do so or you may not be eligible to vote in the General Election which could be called at any time before next June. It is likely this is a government led drive to get as many new migrants to the country on the electoral register as possible. One only hopes that checks are made with the Immigration department that the names that are being taken are entitled to be here and are eligible to vote in elections.

No Houses, No Jobs and No Security

Silverstone housing development turned down
Plans to build 260 houses, an 80-bed care home and a GP surgery on the edge of Silverstone have been blocked by South Northamptonshire Council. Proposals to develop on the greenfield site, which lies between the A413 Towcester Road and the A43 Silverstone bypass, were shelved at a meeting of the authority's planning committee on Thursday. Planners rejected the application made by Northampton-based developers Barwood La Salle Land Ltd Partnership, because they felt the proposals did not meet the needs of the village.

One rule for them
A little girl was marched out of a foreign airport by armed guards and made to stay in a filthy, makeshift hospital for five days because doctors suspected she had swine flu. Ellie Kemp, eight, had been looking forward to a holiday in Egypt but she was locked away and had her passport seized after doctors claimed she had the illness – despite showing no symptoms. Parents Sarah and Chris Kemp, of Chatsworth Drive, Wellingborough, watched in horror as they stepped off the plane in Sharm el Sheikh, and saw their daughter surrounded by men in white coats and armed guards. The guards told the family that invisible monitors had detected that Ellie has a high temperature and confiscated her passport. Imagine the outcry from the hand-wringing left wing liberals if the UK decided to do the same thing, or even start screening asylum seekers and illegal immigrants into the the country for HIV-AIDS, Tuberculosis among other diseases.

More Job Losses for Corby and Oundle
A fifth of the remaining workforce at boat-building firm Fairline is to be made redundant. Last week the company announced it would be making 'a limited amount of redundancies' but yesterday staff at the firm, which has plants in Oundle and Corby, were told 89 office and administration staff are to lose their jobs. The redundancies will affect 22 per cent of the company's workforce, which has already seen 365 jobs axed since September last year.

Calls for Unitary Council Increase

One Council for Northampton
Calls to create a new unitary Council to govern Northampton have split politicians at the Guildhall.Both the leading Liberal Democrats and the Labour group on Northampton Borough Council have said Northampton should have just one ‘unitary’ council, while the Conservatives have said that the already poor council is not fit to take on extra services. The new authority would carry out all the services currently carried out by the borough council, such as rubbish collection and street sweeping, but also take on services currently provided by Northamptonshire County Council, such as libraries and social care. The debate on the council’s future comes at the same time the Boundary Committee is looking into the future make-up of Northampton Borough Council.The independent group is looking into both how many councillors the ever expanding town should have and what areas the council’s wards should cover. The review is expected to be completed next autumn.

Corby Cube, late and over-budget
The Corby Cube, Corby's civic hub is running £2.5m over budget and will be completed at least two months late according to the Evening Telegraph. The shortfall in the £29m building, which will be the centrepiece of the town's redevelopment, means the council will have to borrow money to complete it. The building which will include a new theatre, council offices and rooftop garden will not be ready until July 2010 rather than spring next year. Once the building is open Corby library will also begin plans to move in. Corby Council chief executive Chris Mallender said the shortfall was a result of an increase in the cost of steel and a realisation that the building would need more than first anticipated. Surely the Architect would have said in advance exactly how much of each material would be needed to complete the building. The increase in the cost of steel may be acceptable but Corby Borough Council should pursue the architects if they have been mislead on the amounts required. Architects are insured for such circumstances.

Weirdo watch
A local communist oddball in Corby is blaming BNP leafleting activity for an increase in racist attacts in the town and claims that the "two events are inexorably linked". The figures he says have been released today, maybe he would like to provide a link to them. He may like to think that the rise in hate crime in Corby and any BNP activity in the town are linked, but he has no proof that this is the case. There is a very high probability that hate crimes would be just as high, if not higher has the BNP not distributed one leaflet in the town. As is usually the case, the far left will twist figures and try to apportion blame where there is no concrete evidence. So what else is he going to try and pin on us next, the rising cost in steel, increasing unemployment, the obesity crisis, global warming? It has been statistically proven that where the BNP is active there is generally a decrease in hate crimes. This is because the party educates those people who are at the end of their tether not to attack immigrants, but to take their frustrations out on their elected representatives that have let them down. There are also many crimes classified as hate crimes which were not committed simply because of the colour of ones skin or ones accent, it is purely circumstantial. Latent prejudice may come to the surface of the drunk that staggers out of the pub but he is likely to start a fight on anyone that bumps into him on the way home regardless of their race, colour or creed. The truth is that there is no such thing as hate crime, only crime. Hating cannot a crime, because it’s an emotion, not an action, and those who wish to make emotions and thoughts criminal are the enemies of freedom and democracy.

Northampton voters to see the light?
One day after Northampton Borough Council suggesting it still needs to make cut backs it is revealed that plans to illuminate Northampton's Market Square at night would cost more than a quarter of a million pounds. Last month, Northampton Borough Council brought in experts to carry out a lighting test to show what an illuminated square would look like (they obviously have no imagination if they need to employ experts). The Lib Dems seem hell bent on ploughing as much money as they can into the market Square.The £250,000 bill, combined with a further £30,000 for 'project design',is in addition to the £1.3 million reorganisation of the market. The council said the hi-tech lights will be cheaper to run and more environmentally friendly than the current floodlights while the council's deputy leader, Councillor Paul Varnsverry (Lib Dem, West Hunsbury) argued the lights would improve the overall feel of the square. He also defended the cost of the project, adding: "It's a huge lighting scheme. It's top lighting technology and it will save us a lot of money because of its low energy consumption." Any of our readers will know that finances are not Cllr Paul Varnsverry's strong topic having been the subject of an IVA. The man who can't look after his own finances spending your money. The plans will be discussed by the council's cabinet on Wednesday.

Government to kick start Corby development
The government has announced £4.8m for a 116-home development on the Kingswood estate in Corby, which is being built by Bela Partnership and Corby Council. It has also announced £1.9m towards the Bovis Home development of 50 homes at Little Stanion Farm on the outskirts of Corby. More than two thirds of the funding is 'expected to be repaid', with less than a fifth consisting of direct grant to support developers and the rest used to fund affordable homes as part of the Kickstart programme. Only developers who have accepted a realistic current market price for their land have been eligible for this investment, said the Department of Communities and Local Government. The simple truth is that development needs to stop and the priority needs to bringing new jobs to the county. We have thousands with no jobs that are willing to work, once unemployment is back to a reasonable level and the demand for new houses is in line with the business projection for new jobs, then is the time to look towards looking to build new houses. A flood of empty houses will just suppress prices, keep wages depressed and Corby will forever the sweat shop of Northamptonshire.

Multiculturalism Pt 1
Two people were held in an inquiry into people-trafficking and the sex trade. Officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) executed warrants at four addresses in Reading, and one in Northampton, on Wednesday afternoon. A 22-year-old woman with dual British and Thai nationality from Reading was arrested in Northampton on suspicion of helping manage brothels and has been released on bail until mid-December. Officials found three women of Lithuanian, Brazilian and Thai nationalities at the addresses.

Multiculturalism Pt 2
Five Wellingborough men and one from Rushden have been jailed for their part in a series of burglaries and thefts across Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. The six men were part of a gang of nine sentenced to a total of 35 years behind bars at Luton Crown Court on Wednesday following the conclusion of Operation Pleat, the long running investigation into burglaries, where high value cars were stolen off driveways. John McCulloch, 28, of Regent Street, Bletchley, and Jumroz Khan, 30, of Conduit Road, Bedford were sentenced to six years and three years respectively, after admitting to conspiracy to commit burglaries. Pawel Wodecki, 29, of Hatton Park Road, Wellingborough received six years. The following, admitted conspiracy to transfer criminal property out of the UK, were also sentenced: Zbigniew Nowak, 25, of Highfield Road, Wellingborough, received three years six months, Tomasz Nowak, 21, of Highfield Road, Wellingborough, received three years, Ricky England, 21, of Gordon Road, Wellingborough, received two years. Matthew Harrison, 21, of Knox Road, Wellingborough, received two years, David Clatworthy, 23, of High Street Rushden, received 18 months. It follows the sentencing in September of Abdul Hussain, 26, of Pioneer Avenue, Burton Latimer who received an eight-year jail term having been found guilty of conspiracy to commit burglaries and conspiracy to transfer criminal property. After yesterday's sentencing DI Jon Gilbert, who led the investigation said: "This was a difficult and complex investigation into burglaries where high value cars such as BMWs and Mercedes were stolen and believed to be exported for sale in Poland."

DNA figures do not add up
Given yesterdays lesson in mathematics by Northamptonshire Police one has to start looking at figures they are giving out. Last Monday, the Evening Telegraph reported that Northamptonshire police force holds 51,132 DNA profiles on record, while today it says that according to new figures from Parliamentary answers, the national DNA database has had 50,835 profiles added to it to date. One set of figures has to be wrong. The police only remove DNA profiles in extreme circumstances, so for the county database to lose 297 profiles in little over a week cannot be right. Despite my incredulity that this accounted for 7% of the counties population it is apparently the third lowest for any force in the country. There must be a lot of naughty people out there.

Police in Denial
According to Northamptonshire police, gun crime in the county remains "very stable" despite a 200% increase over the past decade. Statistics released by the Home Office in response to a Parliamentary question showed a three-fold increase in reports of incidents involving firearms over the period. There were 164 firearms incidents in the county between April 2007 and March 2008 compared with 54 a decade earlier. Chief Supt Dean Smith, of the force's protective services command, said it did not mean gun crime was on the rise in the county (I wonder which school he went to?).

Stop the Building
Scores more people from two villages have answered a call to fight controversial developments mooted for rural sites between Northampton and Daventry. At the first meeting of Kislingbury Action Group last night, almost 100 residents from Kislingbury and Harpole met to discuss ways to prevent the expansion going ahead. At the inaugural meeting, protesters were warned not to "breathe a sigh of relief" after thousands of people responded to a consultation and pushed the plans back by several months. Kislingbury resident Andy Clarke, a strategic planner, called for more people to get involved in the fight to "completely torpedo" the proposals. More than 6,000 people have so far responded to a public consultation on the plans. The result has meant the expansion proposals cannot be submitted by the proposed November deadline and are likely to be presented to Government in the new year. Other areas which have already voiced their opposition include Quinton, Great and Little Houghton, Grange Park and Wootton.

New Broom Needs New Bristles
The new leader of Northampton Borough Council has said he is excited about taking the reins at the Guildhall, but admitted the task is "daunting". Councillor Brian Hoare (Lib Dem, Abington) took over the top job at the Guildhall this week following former leader, Councillor Tony Woods' (Lib Dem, St Davids), decision to stand down as leader, although Hoare has put him in his Cabinet. It seems rather ironic that a man who got into local politics after objecting to a large warehouse development close to his home is now one of the people pushing for the destruction of thousands of acres of countryside (probably nowhere near his home). He said: "There are a lot of regeneration schemes we can bring forward, but we need to make sure the town centre is sensitively redeveloped in a way that recognises its heritage."What does that mean, no big plasma TV screens in the Market Square, Real Christmas Trees and not plastic ones that his predecessor spent £33,000 of tax payers money on? Last year, the council had to make savings of £8 million and this year several more millions need to be axed from the council's budget. The council is expected to put together the first draft of its budget in the next few weeks. If Cllr Hoare thinks he is going to get a Honeymoon period at all he is mistaken.

Tightened Border Controls

The Labour Party have tightened up so much on our border controls that only five illegals managed to sneak onto the back of a lorry driven by a Polish driver to enter the UK. The driver of the articulated lorry heard noises coming from his trailer and stopped on the A14 between Rothwell and Kettering where he found two Iraqis, two Iranians and an Afghani in the trailer on Monday morning. The Polish Driver, unable to speak English had to ask another Lorry driver to call the police. A spokesman for the UK Border Agency, responsible for controlling immigration, said: "We can confirm that five individuals, suspected of illegally entering the UK in a lorry have been arrested by police on the A14. All of the suspected stowaways are currently being questioned. Any adult illegal immigrants will be taken into detention and removed from the UK as soon as possible, while any assessed by social services as being minors will be taken into local authority care.

Wellingborough MP Peter Bone is talking tough following the Secretary of State, John Denham's approval of the 3,00 house Upper Redhill development to the north of the town. Peter Bone has promised to keep opposing the outline planning permission, which will not be officially passed for another eight weeks pending an agreement between developers North Northants LLP and Wellingborough Council about required infrastructure.

Illegal Immigrant Employers Fined

Four businesses have been fined a total of £25,000 for employing illegal immigrants. Officials visited IAS Food Ltd in Corby on November 13 last year and discovered three illegal workers, two were from Bangladesh and one was an Indian. The firm was fined £10,000. One illegal worker from Turkey was discovered at the Spot On fast food takeaway in Thrapston in April this year, the company was fine £5,000. An Indian worker was discovered working at Pooja Caterers in Alma Street, Wellingborough, the illegal worker was discovered at the Indian caterer's premises during an enforcement visit in April. The firm, which also runs a vegetarian restaurant, was fined £5,000. UK Border Agency staff also raided VG Stores in Willow Brook Road, Corby, in August and discovered an illegal worker from India. The convenience store was fined £5,000. You can further punish these firms that have shown a blatant disregard for the employment law by not spending your money with them. As heartening as it is to see firms being fined for employing illegal immigrants the amount caught is likely to be the tip of the Iceberg. If you have suspicions about a company employing illegal immigrants report them to the UK Border Agency at UKBApublicenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk.

As the dust begins to settle after the Question Time appearance of Nick Griffin last week there have been several enquiries direct through this blog from people whishing to join the party. I have not yet heard how many enquiries have been received for the county from central office.

More Green Belt To Be Built On

John Denham, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, has approved controversial plans to build 3,000 new homes in Wellingborough. The decision comes following a nine-day public inquiry in June into the plans by North Northants LLP, a subsidiary of Bee Bee Developments, to build the homes, a school and community facilities in the Upper Redhill area of Wellingborough. The building of this development will eventually see Wellingborough swallow up the villages of Great and Little Harrowden. The initial plans were refused by Wellingborough Council so John Denham on his own back consigns yet more British green belt farmland to be concreted over. If you find John Denhams decision as baffling as I do send him an e-mail at john.denham@communities.gsi.gov.uk. The reason I say baffling decision is because wellingborough already has 3,300 consented homes on major sites which are not coming forward due to infrastructure and viability constraints. So now we have another 3,000. Leader of the council Cllr John Bailey said the council identified the need for more than £18m of facilities and roads to cope with the site and will be urging the Government to ensure the borough receives the right level of infrastructure to accommodate this substantial housing growth. I would not hold my breath the Government have not listened to the people of Wellingborough when they have said loud and clear that they do not want this housing development. There is one get out clause, the approval comes with the condition that a 106 agreement, which decides what infrastructure the developers must provide, is agreed with the council by December 17...if the Council have any sense they will stall for time until it is too late.

Question Time for Lib Dems. It Must Be Christmas

Fake Plastic Trees
You may remember that last year Northampton Borough Council 'invested' £33,000 in some plastic Christmas trees (with four illegal immigrants who were smuggled into the country in the lorry with them). The councils reason for buying the plastic Christmas trees was that it would save money on real ones in future years...well guess what...Northampton Borough Council has announced that this year there will be real Christmas trees and not the horrible plastic ones from last year. So, what has happened to the real ones, can we expect to see the council selling them on e-bay in an attempt to get some of the wasted money back? Lib Dems, spending your money badly.

Nuclear Dumping
At last the media appear to have woken up out of their slumber. On Radio 5 Live this morning there was a discussion about the proposed dumping of Nuclear waste in a landfill site at Kings Cliffe in East Northamptonshire. We have mentioned it on here a couple of times before. The hazardous waste management firm Augean plc, which runs the site, wants to dispose of low level nuclear waste and although this has been recommended for refusal by East Northamptonshire District Council, the final decision lies with the County Council who will meet in mid-December. The rubble for the landfill site will come from the massive decommissioning programme involving nuclear plants around the country. The firm says 30,000 tonnes a year in large plastic construction bags is earmarked, initially from the former nuclear research plant at Harwell, near Oxford. With the taxpayer footing the bill for waste disposal from decommissioned sites, the government wants to find a cheap option. Northamptonshire County Councillor Ben Smith, chair of the development control committee, said: "We don't have a planning policy for nuclear waste - it's a vacuum and an unusual application. We never thought this would be a location for waste from the nuclear industry. We need training and workshops so we are well-briefed before making our decision." With the council experiencing rapid growth and dwindling finances, it will be interesting to see how big a bribe is going to be waved by the government in front of the Council to accept this.

Question Time
I cannot go without saying a few words about Question Time. As expected a severely vetted hostile audience made it difficult time for Nick. One wonders how many of the audience were BBC employees as any member of the public would have had a torrid time tyring to get through the baying mob of freedom haters outside. From the opening words you could tell that there was not an 'ordinary' audience. Jack Straw got a rousing round of applause for saying something that would barely warrant a ripple of claps in a normal programme, while the set format for the show went out of the window. I feel Nick could have made a few more pointed comments, especially when Chris Huhne said the Lib Dems would cap immigration when the Lib Dems would be unable to impose any caps on immigration from the EU states without falling foul of the freedom of movement laws. Having said that Nick was in an extremely hostile environment. So while 8 million viewers were treated to bash the BNP Time we did not get to hear Jack Straw having to defend the Labour Party over the Postal Strike and the extra soldiers being set to Afghanistan to name but two. Maybe next time, if Nick ever gets invited back, we can have a more normal show where everyone is treated the same...I think it's called equality and I appear to remember the left being very concerned about the lack of it!

Compulsive Viewing

Like most of you I will be glued in front of the television with anticipation at 10.35pm this evening for what should prove to be one of the most interesting Question Time programmes ever. As I type the UAF (Unite Against Freedom) are beginning to assemble outside the BBC Television Centre in an attempt to disrupt the proceedings. Remember, this bunch of fascist scum are supported by the Labour Party and David Cameron. These are the people that want to deny freedom of speech and destroy democracy and have us part of a United States of Eurasia. How much is this demonstration going to cost the London tax payer to police? I'm sure the news before Quetion Time will be worth watching just to see a few more misguided left wing idiots being carted off by the police.

Yet More Wasted Money
Two massive warehouses at Swan Valley just off junction 15A of the M1 at Northampton are still standing empty a year after they were first unveiled. Exactly a year ago today developer ProLogis held a champagne launch of the buildings, which cover a combined area of 500,000 sq ft. Despite the firm predicting interest in the buildings would be strong, they remain empty today, just as we predicted. With the WNDC giving the go ahead for white elephants like these is it any wonder that the public have lost all faith in them. The money they have spent has done little to nothing to enhance or improve the daily lives of those that live in Northampton and the west of the county. At a time when planning permission for new housing is very much in the news, cries for more infrastructure to be put in place first are high on the agenda of those opposing the building. Their words are ringing home tonight with the news that almost £5m of repairs need to be carried out at Northampton General Hospital to prevent an impact on services. Northampton General Hospital (NGH) cannot cope now, let alone with God know how many thousands of new homes and the increased population that will be part and parcel of it. Kevin Hackett, NGH deputy director of facilities, said the constant maintenance bill for the site ran at about £2 million each year, with the most critical upgrades given the highest priority. This is where WNDC, or should I say, the government, needs to be spending our money, where it is needed, not on warehouses that stand idle for years on end.

I am getting a sense of deja vu a few days before Nick is to appear on the BBC's Question Time similar to the feeling I had in the run up to the Euro elections. The media is at war with the BNP, but you have to ask yourself, why? I think it is a cunning little ruse so that the main news stories of the week are about the BNP rather than the war in Iraq/ Afghanistan, the economy or a myriad of other stories that would be the norm in a usual week. This gives the 'vetted' audience a chance to ask questions about the BNP which will immediately see Nick on the back foot defending the party against lies, slurs and innuendos. This will give less time for the British public to hear about the BNP's common sense policies on Europe, the economy, the illegal war in Afghanistan and Iraq that would be afforded to the limp wristed liberals that would normally be appearing on the programme.

So 'Keep Calm and Carry On' as we expect a further barrage of anti-BNP hysteria over the next few days before it is all suddenly forgotten about and swept under the carpet.

Leaked List Update
Sorry for the late post this evening, I've been trying to see a copy of the so-called leaked list so I judge its authenticity for myself. I will say what I said when the first list was leaked in November 2008, if anyone is concerned about whether they appear on the list please get in touch and I will check for you. The current leaked list gives some details the previous one didn't but then it also has a lot of other information, mainly addresses, missing. As for its content of 'members' names, yes, some names are genuine, some are old lapsed members, some are people that had just enquired in the run up to the Euro elections and some appear to have been made up. Even with this odd concoction of names the number of so-called 'members' in Northamptonshire is at least 50% below the actual number. In other words, over 50% of members in the county are not listed. If anyone does have the misfortune of receiving any crank calls report them to the police.

Northampton North UKIP Candidate
Jim MacArthur has been announced as the UKIP candidate for Northampton North seat at the next general election. He will stand against Sally Keeble, the Labour MP who has represented the constituency since she was elected in 1997, Michael Ellis (Con) and Andrew Simpson (LD). Mr MacArthur, 66, lives in High Street, Flore, and teaches Aikido at Derngate Gym twice a week. One wonders why he didn't put up for the constituency where he lives, Daventry.

More Jobs To Go
Another 170 jobs are to go from Wellingborough. Siemens Enterprise Communications Ltd will be leaving the town to transfer to its work to Milton Keynes early next year. Workers at Siemens, one of the few Blue chip employers in the town, in Turnells Mill Road, on the town's Denington Industrial Estate, were told last week that a consultation process would begin about the planned changes being made by the end of February next year. Last week, 160 people at logistics firm Ceva, in Wellingborough, were told they could be out of a job by the end of December. Meanwhile in Corby, more than 300 employees at the Corus plant, now owned by Indian firm Tata, have opted to hold a vote on whether to strike over the firm's announcement that it will not pay bonuses for their last three months' work. The Community Union says the steel company is in violation of more than 30 years of procedure, custom and practice. Workers in India have been given bonuses of up to 18.5 per cent and an additional payment in arrears of 8.33 per cent.

I cannot confirm or deny this rumour and neither can the party until such time that the website that claims to have this information decides to break the data protection act and publish the information.

It appears, according to Tony Clarke's blog, that two Lib Dem Northampton Borough Councillors have quit the party and have formed an Independent group with Tony Clarke. Tony Clarke, being the big cheese, will be leader of group while Cllr Malcolm Mildren (Parklands) will be Deputy leader and Cllr Jean Hawkins (Eastfield) Business Manager. Cllr Clark has a graphic on his blog which reads

Independent, I vote for a Person, not a Party.

Which is a bit rich considering Mildren and Hawkins were both elected as Liberal Democrats! Good to see Clarke use some good old fashioned Blairite spin. Personally, I think this is the first cracks appearing in the Lib Dem regime following the election of Brian Hoare as their leader over David Perkins following Tony Wood's resignation. Hoare was Deputy Leader of the Lib Dems and very much part of the old guard, while Perkins was part of the rebel group. The election of Paul Varnsverry as the new Deputy leader would be enough to make any sane councillor question their loyalties to the party. It would not surprise me in the least to see a few more rats deserting the sinking ship over the next few months as they start looking to protect their own political skin in the run up to the next Borough Council elections.

UKIP Could Go Bust

While we have had all the jabber about the BNP by Peter Hain, who is doing to the British exactly what he campaigned so vigorously against in South Africa, the UK Independence Party has lost the latest stage of its battle to avoid having to repay donations of £363,697. The Court of Appeal said the gifts from retired bookmaker Alan Bown between Dec 2004 and Jan 2006 were illegal because he was not on the electoral register. Party leader Nigel Farage threatened to appeal against the ruling, saying: "There is a very real danger that this could put UKIP out of business." That's the best news I've heard all year!

The money would go to the Treasury, not back to Mr Bown. UKIP estimates its total bill, including legal costs, could reach £750,000. Mr Farage said the party had nothing like that amount of money in its funds.

Mr Bown says he was mistakenly taken off the electoral register in December 2004 and did not find out until December 2005 he was not on it. He was reinstated in February 2006. In 2007, the Electoral Commission said it wanted UKIP to forfeit all Mr Bown's donations, after all, they should have checked that the donor was on the electoral register like all other political parties have to with donations over £200. Westminster Magistrates' Court had said the breach of rules was accidental and ordered the party to pay back only £18,481. However, the electoral commission then took the case to the Court of Appeal, arguing that all the donations should be forfeited. Three judges have now ordered the magistrates' court to change its original decision.

Despite this, you can almost guarantee that the three main political parites will remain silent over this because they know that should UKIP go out of buiness, there is only one natural home for electors that want out of Europe, and that is with the British National Party.

How are Police Solving Crimes?

Inquiries made by the Evening Telegraph have revealed the police force holds 51,132 DNA profiles, equating to around seven per cent of the population of the county on its database. As well as those of convicted criminals, the database includes profiles of people who have been interviewed by police and released without charge or have been voluntarily given as part of police inquiries and the force will only agree to delete a profile in extreme circumstances. One would have thought that the percentage amongst this number that have helped the police with their enquiries would be faily high, so the chances of this evidence being used to solve future crimes in the county would have given rise to a greater number of crimes being solved. Unfortunately is not the case in Northamptonshire. This could show that they are not making use of the database, or they have got the records of too many law abiding citizens. There are arguments on both sides of the coin about whether DNA of innocent people should be held and if so for how long so expect this story to rumble on now that the information is in the public domain.

Lib Dems Pimp Hoare and His Dodgy Mate

Liberal Democrat Councillors in Northampton last night elected Brian Hoare (Lib Dem, Abington) to succeed Tony Woods (Lib Dem, St David) after Woods announced his intention to quit the Guildhall's top job. Hoare was expected to win the head to head battle with David Perkins so there were no surprises there. However, Hoare's elevation from Deputy Leader meant there was a vacancy for a new Deputy, and for some reason the stupid Lib Dems chose to vote Paul Varsverry (Lib Dem, West Hunsbury) in his stead. Putting a man who has publicly had financial difficulties, and currently has an IVA, is not a good move. The Lib Dems have had problems controlling their own finances and now they put a man in at number two that has shown he is unable to run his own affairs, let alone those of a town of over 200,000. Cllr. Hoare will now formally be elected by the Borough's 47 Councillors at their next meeting on Monday October 26. Cllr. Varnsverry will also be formally noted. Changes to Cabinet posts, committee positions and Council appointments to outside bodies will also be confirmed at the meeting.

More Racist Graffiti
More graffiti of a anti-white racist nature appeared in the Broad Green area of Wellingborough overnight. A garage door on Hardwick Road was sprayed in red paint with the words 'White Cracka Fad(j)ad'. Whilst this means utter gibberish to the vast majority of the public the word Cracka is a term used to insult white people which has become more popular recently with Blacks as the opposite of the 'N' word. The police are aware as they have stuck a sticker over the word fad(j)ad, whatever that means, maybe some hip dude can enlighten me.

MP's Expenses
Wellingborough MP Peter Bone has been asked to provide more information about a London flat by Sir Thomas Legg the man enlisted to investigate Parliamentary expense claims over the past five years. Mr Bone has not been asked to pay back any money but has been asked to provide more information about the flat he rents. He said: "I don't expect to have to pay back any money and I will write back with all of the information. I need to tie up the dates of the payments and I expect to be able to provide all the information." Mr Bone denied claims which appeared in the Daily Mirror and the Daily Telegraph that he had been ordered to repay £5,100 he claimed for cleaning and laundry. Mr Bone said: "I was very surprised to find the Daily Telegraph thought I had spent thousands of tax payers' pounds on cleaning and laundry in 2007/08 and that I was the second highest claimant. I made no claim for cleaning or laundry." Mr Bone however did spend the near maximum on food for the year. Corby MP Phil Hope would not reveal what his letter said about any expenses repayments because he has already voluntarily handed back all the money he claimed over the past five years (only after it was leaked in the Telegraph how much he had claimed). Kettering MP Philip Hollobone is away on a secondment with the Royal Navy and has not yet opened his letter. Now seeing that Mr Hollobone has had half the summer off you would have thought he could have fitted the Royal Navy Secondment in when he was not supposed to be at the Houses of Parliament representing his constituents.

WNDC budget slashed
Government plans to slash more than £5million from the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation's (WNDC) budget have puzzled and angered members of the development group. The WNDC was set up to push forward the expansion of Northampton, Daventry and Towcester and lead the way on the Government's plans to build thousands of new houses across the area. Papers published by the authority yesterday have revealed the government is considering cutting the WNDC's funding pot of more than £12 million to just over £7 million next year, which in my eyes is at least £7m too much. The Government has said the 43 per cent cut is needed because of the global recession and because of a need to "re-focus Government spending programmes". Since the WNDC was set up, it has wasted about £60 million of tax-payers money. The only money it has spent that has been worthwhile is on the flood defences in Northampton.

The battle to become leader of Northampton Borough Council will be a straight contest between Councillor David Perkins (Lib Dem, Boughton Green) and Councillor Brian Hoare (Lib Dem, Abington). Party insiders have said it will be hard to choose between the two, but many see Councillor Hoare as a 'safe pair of hands' who is close to many existing members of the council's cabinet while Councillor Perkins is believed to be closer to the so-called rebel group within the party, who were keen to see Councillor Woods deposed following the Astragate affair. Statements were issued on both candidates by the party last night. About Councillor Hoare they said: "Brian has been a borough councillor since 2003 and deputy leader of the council since 2009. He is also a former leader of the party's group on Northamptonshire County Council. He is currently portfolio holder for engagement at the Guildhall." The group's statement on Councillor Perkins said: "David has been a borough councillor since 2003 and stood for the European Parliament in 2009. He is currently portfolio holder for finance and assets." The new leader will be announced on Friday after a secret ballot and will take over the job on October 26. If Councillor Hoare is elected, the deputy leadership contest will be between former Mayor, Councillor Richard Church (Lib Dem, Kingsthorpe) and the prospective parliamentary candidate for Northampton South, Councillor Paul Varnsverry (Lib Dem, West Hunsbury). Varnsverry, who has had financial problems and currently has an IVA, is also PPC for the Lib Dems for Northampton South in the next general election where hopefully the idiot will be soundly thrashed.

Temporary Reprieve For Countryside

Houses on Hold
Government plans for 60,000 new homes across West Northamptonshire have been rejected as "unsustainable" by the county council's cabinet. Doubts have arisen over whether jobs and infrastructure would match the proposed levels of housing growth. There are also worries about flooding, and the impact of the possible growth on villages and greenfield sites. Councillors rejected the current West Northamptonshire Joint Core Strategy put forward by the East Midlands Regional Assembly in response to government targets saying they could not support the growth plans up to 2026 and beyond. However, this will not be the end of it, the plans will be amended and resubmitted. It appears to me that the developers are in a mad rush to get plans through before the general election in case a Conservative regime overturns the current Labour government plans for rapid growth in the county.

However, in Corby controversial plans for 200 houses, 42 apartments and 21 bungalows on land off Pen Green Lane on the Lloyds estate has been submitted. The proposal to build on the scrubland was first put forward in 2007, but residents in nearby streets battled to stop them after realising the new development would only have one entrance and exit. They feared this would cause traffic to be filtered down Stephenson Way and Pen Green Lane, two of the town's oldest roads. Residents will have until October 27 to lodge their views on the plans which can be seen at the Corby Council One Stop Shop in George Street.

Yet More Job Losses
Hot on the heels of the much trumpeted 500 jobs being created in Corby by Taiwanese TV manufacturer Kenmark last week follows news of yet more job losses. One hundred members of staff at Indage UK (formerly Corby Bottlers) went home at lunchtime yesterday after not receiving pay for weeks. The news comes a day after 160 people at logistics firm CEVA in Wellingborough were told they could be out of a job by the end of December and up to 15-0 odd jobs could be lost at National Grid in Northampton. Workers at Indage, in Brunel Road, Corby, were planning unofficial strike action at midday yesterday because staff have not been paid for three weeks. As they were preparing to leave the firm, about 100 people were called into the canteen where they were told to go home and not to return until they were contacted. Weekly workers had not been paid for three weeks and monthly staff have been waiting a fortnight for their wages.

Anti White Graffiti Sprayed on War Memorial

Anti-White Racist Graffiti at War Memorial
"F*CK YOU WHITE TWATS" was sprayed in big letters across the War Memorial at Broad Green in Wellingborough between Saturday night and Sunday morning. A string of similar incidents have also occurred at various locations across the town in recent days. The white stone memorial lists the names of Wellingborough soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars. A member of the public attempted to wash the graffiti off on Sunday, although it was still clearly visible and the Council removed the offending words on Monday. Graffiti was also sprayed across a building in Kiln Way, on the Queensway estate in the town, on Saturday night and police believe the two incidents could be connected. Insp Vaughan Clarke, sector commander for Wellingborough, said: "We believe the recent incidents of offensive graffiti found in a number of locations were committed by the same person and are isolated incidents that took place on the same day. We are conducting inquiries to identify the offender and are working closely with the local authority to ensure that such graffiti is removed as soon as possible. Hate crime will not be tolerated by Northamptonshire Police." Now seeing that the Police are treating this as a Hate Crime it makes me wonder why the local paper didn't seek out any member of the Northamptonshire Racial Equality Council for comment. Had a similar incident happened outside a Mosque, Synagogue or Hindu temple Anjona Roy or Paul Crofts would have been fighting with each other to get their two-penneth in. Witnesses, or anyone with information, can call Northamptonshire Police on 03000 111 222 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Wellingborough has been a relatively peaceful and diverse community since the 1960's and with the Remembrance Sunday event at the memorial just a under month away a repeat performance will do more damage to racial harmony in the town than the election of a BNP councillor ever could.

Violent Teen Attacks Policeman
A teenager who allegedly punched a policeman in the face and broke his jaw after he was told to stop riding his bike on a pavement in Northampton has been remanded in custody. Francious Marius, aged 18, of Woodside Way, Kings Heath, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with causing grievous bodily harm, common assault and intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Marius is accused of punching a PC in Gold Street on Thursday after the officer approached him and told him he was not allowed to cycle on the pavement. Frederick Pilkington, prosecuting, said: “The defendant became abusive and punched the officer with considerable force causing his head to fall back violently and a hairline fracture to his jaw.” As part of the same incident, he is also charged with assaulting another police constable and intending to cause harassment, alarm or distress to a third officer. Marius remained in handcuffs and was flanked by two police officers throughout the hearing after magistrates granted an application by Mr Pilkington for him to be restrained because of a fear he would become violent in the dock. Marius was remanded in custody until his next court hearing which will take place later this month.

More Job Losses
The 500 or so jobs created in Corby the other week are rabidly on their way to being negated in the county with the news that up to 160 people could lose their jobs when a CEVA logistics closes its Wellingborough depot at the end of the year. It has begun a a 90-day consultation with 160 workers at the site and a spokeswoman for CEVA said it would try to deploy staff to other depots where possible. CEVA also has a branch in Corby, which is not currently under threat.

Faked off
The smell of glue alerted traffic cops to 1,436 fake Nike trainers – worth £120,000 had they been real – when they stopped a market trader driving home on the M1 motorway, near Northampton. Mohammed Rangzeb, 31, told police he was only a courier instructed to "take the goods somewhere vaguely towards Leeds", after a pick-up in London. Northampton Crown Court heard he claimed to deal in female fashions, but trading standards officers secretly filmed him selling trainers in a market. Matthew Lowe, prosecuting, said Rangzeb and a female passenger were stopped "on information received", northbound, near junction 15 of the M1 at Northampton, on December 5, 2008. Rangzeb, of Thornton Lodge, Huddersfield, pleaded guilty to possessing counterfeit goods, contrary to the Trade Marks Act 1994. Sentenced to a 12-month community order, he must do 150 hours' unpaid work and faces prosecution, court costs and a financial penalty under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 which is typically £15.

I was warned in the run up to the local and Euro elections that the Inside Out team may contact us for an interview, thankfully because we fall outside the BBC's East Midlands regional programme area we were not contacted by the BBC for this programme. Lunacy of the Left

There are a couple of issues that highlight the current lunacy prevalent in the left and the fact that as long as the lunatics that have taken over the asylum are in charge, the British National Party will continue to flourish.

Firstly, let's take a look back at what happened yesterday in Manchester with the English Defence league (EDL) protest. The EDL is termed by the left as a 'far-right' organisation, although this is not what they are. They may dislike the Islamification of Britain, but I know people of all political and ethnic persuasions that are not happy with this situation (apart from the Muslims of course). The protest by the EDL was due to be a static protest, i.e., they were to meet in a designated location, protest and then leave. However look at any of the far left blogs in the run up to the weekends events and you will see that a peace protest is not what the UAF had in mind.

Look at this from a neutral point of view. If the UAF had ignored this protest, it would have passed off peacefully and quickly when the EDL saw they were getting no publicity, it would have saved the Manchester tax payer the best part of 100K and very few people outside of Manchester (and probably most that lived in Manchester) would have known anything about it.

But no, the UAF rent a mob turn up with their size elevens on looking for a fight and make sure that the EDL get even more publicity, most of it good, when the TV pictures showing people being arrested and carted off are nearly all from the UAF side demonstration. It also makes one wonder why on earth the left do not print up relevant banners if they are going to protest against the EDL. Turning up with anti-BNP banners when the BNP are not there begs the question do these people know why they are there and who they are protesting against.

Whether you are with the EDL in principle or against them, they have a right to peacefully protest, which is what they had planned. But yet again the people that call for more tolerance are the ones that show the least. Any sign of anyone not wanting a fully integrated multi-culti society must be stamped out and obliterated at all costs. Where is free speech, where is democracy? These not exist in the dictionary or eyes of the left and the more they show this in public the more they are going to turn the public against them and into the arms of those that oppose them. The UAF are just bullies, if they don't like something they turn up to stop it or beat it out of existence.

It is the UAF that need to be banned from demonstrating, they are the ones causing the trouble, they are the ones costing the tax payer thousands of pounds, yet they are backed by the Labour party and the Conservative Leader David Ca'moron'.

On to a different subject, The British National Party are set to cross swords with Trevor Phillips and the 'Equalities' Commission again this week. The BNP will no doubt be asked to amend their Constitution, something that Nick Griffin cannot do without the backing of the voting members. The first opportunity for voting members to vote on the matter will be at the Party Conference in November. So whatever your views on the matter of who should or shouldn't be allowed to join the BNP, democracy will be seen in action at the BNP party conference yet again. Who is it that keeps saying the BNP are an undemocratic party..oh yes, it's the left,, who coincidentally will be demonstrating outside the conference trying to disrupt it to ensure that democracy is not done, as they don't like that!

One for me, nothing for you

On the 6th October Alistair Darling's announcement of a pay freeze for top public servants was described by David Cameron as cynical and insubstantial. The very next day at the Conservative Party conference we saw exactly what Cameron meant by 'insubstantial' when shadow Chancellor George Osborne announced that a Conservative government would impose a one-year pay freeze for the 4 million public servants earning more than £18,000 in 2011. With each party trying to appear meaner and more tight-fisted than each other on public pay I find it somewhat puzzling that Labour have not attacked a certain group of freeloader, the quango's.

Quango bosses have been awarded pay rises of up to 20% over the past year – almost eight times the amount given to frontline workers. Richard Judge, the chief executive of Cefas, the government’s fisheries research agency which included a bonus of up to £20,000, rose to £137,500 last year, up 22% on the previous year. Mike Robinson, the chief executive of the UK Hydrographic Office, was paid a salary and bonus worth £252,500 in 2008-9, 16% more than in the previous year. Three board members at the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse received pay rises of about 17%, according to the drugs quango’s accounts for last year. Estimates of the number of quangos – public bodies that are outside mainstream government organisations – range from 790 to 1,162, with their cost put at up to £64 billion a year. Two of the better known quango's in Northamptonshire are the two Development Corporations, the leaders of both claim salaries in excess of £100,000 of tax payers money a year in salary.

Last week David Cameron announced he was looking for ways to slash the amount of money spent on public bodies – particularly the pay of their executives – if the Conservatives come to power, however, it looks like he wants to abolish the wrong ones. The Tory leader singled out Ofcom, the media regulator, as one expensive public body that could be pruned. The thing is with quango's is that they are often jobs for the boys, set up to reward ex-civil servants or those with the right school tie with a fat pay packet. Some may be necessary, but the majority are not.

So, with both the main political parties looking to cap or cut pay for public sector workers, I guess that means all MP's will not be having a pay rise in the near future...I'll believe that when I see it.

Woods Quits
Councillor Tony Woods' (Lib Dem, St David's), leader of Northampton Borough Council is to quit over the Astragate saga "for the good of the town and the sake of renewed civic leadership." However, he is not quite ready to go yet and is planning to stay in the job until October the 26th. As welcome as this move is we now have to see who is the 'clown' prince is, Varnsverry? Glynnane? Church? Beardsworth?

Easy Come, Easy Go
A day after news of 500 jobs are to be created in corby, news comes in of up to 137 going in Northampton. National Grid have announced it was pressing ahead with plans to cut up to 300 jobs under cost-saving moves, 163 jobs will be affected in Newcastle upon Tyne, with a further 137 split between offices in Warwick and Northampton. The firm said affected employees would be encouraged to apply for jobs elsewhere in National Grid, which considering these are cost-saving cuts, must mean that they have other lower paid jobs to offer their current staff. The GMB union said it would not accept the cuts, which would lead to the closure of the Newcastle office and some work being moved to India.

A file has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service after the police officer son of Northampton South MP Brian Binley was suspended from working with the county force. Details of the seriousness of the allegations against Matthew Binley have not been revealed, and he has not yet been charged with any criminal offence but Leicestershire CPS confirmed yesterday a file had been passed to its trials unit. PC Binley, aged 26, joined Northamptonshire Police in June 2007 after previously serving as a Special Constable. At the end of last year, he was removed from public duty while the force investigated an allegation made by a taxi driver for which he was never charged. A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police would not confirm the name of the person involved but said an officer was suspended from duty at the end of July following an allegation.

500 Jobs For Corby, But How Many For Locals?

Full of Eastern Promise
Kenmark, a Taiwanese television manufacturer is preparing a 150,000 sq ft warehouse at the Eurohub near Stanion, Corby for the influx of hundreds of workers when manufacturing begins at the start of next year. The company chose to invest in the area after approaching the Government's UK Trade and Investment's Taipei-based team, who put the firm in touch with the East Midlands Development Agency. However, as welcome as 500 jobs are to the Corby area, I think we need to remain cautious until the dust has settled. Local politicians and the media are understandably excited that at last someone has decided to move into the warehouse, but questions remain unanswered. The words "influx of hundreds of workers" are the ones chosen by the Evening Telegraph (ET), do they know something about the number of Chinese coming to Corby that they are not telling their readers, or are they expecting another wave of Eastern Europeans to descend on the town? It is unusual for a firm to switch manufacturing to Europe from the Far East, where labour is cheaper, but then they will find nowhere in the East Midlands with lower rates of pay than Corby. I would welcome a statement from Kenmark saying exactly how many of the 500 jobs they intend creating will be for British workers. One only has to read the comments section of the online ET to see the fears of Corby locals.

Astragate
Tony Woods' punishment for parking his car with no tax or MOT, failing to notify they DVLA of its SORN status in the Guildhall car park for three months is to write a 146 word long apology to the 46 other Northampton Borough Councillors. The wording of the letter was dictated to him by the Standards Disciplinary committee, which reads:

“I am writing to all of you to sincerely apologise for keeping my red Vauxhall Astra in the underground car park of the Guildhall.
“The car should have been moved on or shortly after 20 November 2008, and certainly on or shortly after 26 November when I was asked by officers to move it.
“I did use my car park space to my personal advantage and by doing so accept that I not only misused the resources of the council but also left the car, in the underground car park of the Guildhall, for far longer than can be regarded by any definition as being reasonable.
“I understand that I am writing this letter as an alternative to one month’s suspension from the council.
“I accept that my actions have caused embarrassment and have caused undue cost by this matter being pursued through the Standards regime.”

This is hardly a punishment, unless he is forced to write them all by hand like a naughty schoolboy! If the man cannot be trusted to obey simple laws that the rest of us mere citizens have to comply with he should not be deemed fit for office, simples.

Councillor Tony Woods (Lib Dem, St David's) leader of Northampton Borough Council has today been found guilty of two breaches of a code of conduct as part of the so-called "Astragate" saga. Cllr Woods parked his 12-year-old Vauxhall Astra in the Guildhall's underground car park in the centre of Northampton, shortly after the car was parked its tax disc expired and Councillor Woods faced repeated calls to move the vehicle. Despite the requests, he left the untaxed car in the car park until the middle of January this year, leading to allegations from his political opponents that he had abused his position as leader of the council. Two members of the public also made complaints about the council leader which have led to the hearing, which was held at the Guildhall in Northampton today. This afternoon, Mr Woods was found guilty by an independent committee of twice breaking the rules of conduct for councillors, his fate will be decided this evening.

Cultural Enrichment
Ali Mohamed, a 51-year old Somalian who groped a teenage girl in Northampton town centre has been jailed for 10 months and faces deportation. Mohamed walked up to the 19-year-old girl and her friend in Bridge Street on November 5 last year and forced a kiss upon her before groping her between her legs, a court heard. When arrested he claimed he was the one that had been assaulted before changing his story denying any sexual assault, claiming mistaken identity and stating he had been assaulted and there were people who were trying to kill him. The court heard that at the time of the groping offence, he was subject to a 24-month probation community order for a six-month campaign of harassment against his ex-wife that he married in Norway in 2002.They divorced two years later and when she moved to the UK with their children, he followed her and began harassing her. Judge Charles Wide QC said Mohamed had a problem with his attitude to male domination. He sentenced Mohamed to six months' imprisonment for the sexual assault with four months consecutive for breaching the community order imposed for the harassment offence.

Conflict in Northampton
For those of you that live in Northampton I recommend you read Tony Clarke's latest blog posting. We may not see eye to eye on many issues but when it comes down to saving council tax payers money we are at least in agreement. Cllr Clarke has called for a Unitary Council to run Northampton before and I for one totally agree with him. I know both the County Council and the Borough council are trying to cut costs and are looking to share services where they can, but sharing services needs administrating, who pays for what, it all gets complicated and messy. Reports on the Northamptonshire County Council website today states that they are looking to cut spending on consultants and agency staff and halt new recruitment so they can continue to pay for front line services. No matter how you look at it more work will have to be done by fewer people and given that the County Council has already pared its workforce to the bone over the past couple of years expect the organisation to start creaking at the seams.

Nuclear Waste Dump Opposed

Controversial plans for a radioactive waste dump in King's Cliffe have been opposed by councillors at a recent meeting of East Northamptonshire Council. Following their debate, councillors decided to go against officers' recommendations to back the plan by Augean PLC to deposit up to 249,999 tonnes of low-level radioactive waste a year at the village's landfill site. However, this is not the end of the matter as the council will now make its recommendation to refuse permission for the waste dump to Northamptonshire County Council which is to make the final decision on the plans at a meeting next month. About 300 people took part in a peaceful demonstration to oppose the plans, more than 1,000 have signed a petition against the scheme and the Waste Watchers group has been set up to fight the proposals which have been largely ignored by the local media.

News of plans being submitted for new housing developments keep arriving on almost a weekly basis as the developers are cranking up their activity ahead of a general election when a Conservative government will hopefully do the right thing by abolishing the quangos and calling a halt to the destruction of our countryside. More than 300 new homes and a 68-bed care home could be built on Northdale Farm, Raunds. The site is currently derelict. A planning application is due to be submitted to East Northamptonshire Council next week by developers Barwood Land and Estates, the company which built the Prologis Park warehouse in Kettering. Raunds currently has a population in the region of 8,300. 300 new homes would bring about an approximate 8% rise in population with no strengthening of infrastructure.

Kettering Market Place, which has become the most expensive skateboard park in the country following its recent development, begins stage 2 of its 'regeneration' today. Workmen will start digging up the former car park next to Market Place to pave the way for new cafes and restaurants. The restaurants and cafes will form part of the town's proposed 'Heritage Quarter', which includes the parish church, Manor House Museum, Alfred East Gallery, the library and Market Place. Town planners hope the cafes and restaurants will attract people other than skateboarders to the area and create a 'continental atmosphere'.

Police discovered 61 cannabis plants after a raid at a property in Leighton Road, Corby. The factory contained both harvested and growing cannabis plants. There was no report of any arrests made at the scene.

On another point, the Irish have capitulated to the EU. Surely now they have had a Yes vote and a No vote, they should have another one, best of three. As we all know the EU is not a democratic organisation, it is a communist state, you keep going until you get the right answer. I hope and pray that the Czechs and the Poles hold out so the Tories live up to their promise to hold a referendum, a promise which Labour have already reneged on.

Border officials swooped on a lorry at the Levi Strauss Depot in Swan Valley, Northampton to discover 10 adults and an unspecified number of minor stowaways hiding in the trailer. In an operation involving Northamptonshire Police and officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA), the men were handed over to officials while the Polish lorry driver was arrested. A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said: "We can confirm 10 people were left in the care of the UK Border Agency." A UK Border Agency spokesman said: "We can confirm that 10 individuals, suspected of illegally entering the UK in a lorry, were arrested by police at the Levi Strauss depot in Northampton on Tuesday, September 29. This goes to prove that the destruction of the 'Jungle' in Calais is not a deterrent to those that are going to try to enter this country illegally. Seven men – four from Iraq and one each from Iran, Kuwait and Vietnam – were detained. The rest claim to be under 18 and have been taken into local authority care." It would have been nice if we were informed how many minors there were as we are paying for their up keep out of our council tax. At a time when front line services are being squeezed until they squeak, how can it be right that our young, old and sick have to suffer while we pay to mollycoddle these so-called minors who have managed to find their own way across two or three continents? Put them on the next boat out of the country and tell them to find their own way back home. This government is so guilt-laden and gullible they can see the word 'MUG' tattooed on Gordon Browns forehead from Vietnam. There will be liberal left hand wringing do-gooders who say I have no heart or compassion. Sod them, I'm all out of compassion when our own people are suffering. Thanks to Gordon Browns ineptitude as a Chancellor and prime minister we are bankrupt, we do not have the funds to look after our people who have paid into the system all their working lives and are now treated as second rate citizens.

Members of Northamptonshire County Council have overwhelmingly opposed plans which could see more than 40,000 new houses built around the edges of Northampton, Daventry and Towcester. Members of the public packed into both County Hall, in the centre of Northampton, and the neighbouring Sessions House building yesterday to hear councillors discuss the plans. The Chronicle and Echo reported that after almost three hours of debate 100 per cent of the councillors who took part in the vote expressed their unanimous opposition to the housing scheme. However, according to reports from someone that was there, I was informed that Richard Church (Lib Dem, Kingsley) did not oppose the plans. This now places the Conservative run County Council at odds with the Lib Dem run Borough council and West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit who are both pushing for the development. The county council's cabinet will discuss the expansion plans again on October 13 (when they may well change their minds). The JPU's plans are expected to be submitted to the Government, either at the end of this year or early next year. A full public inquiry is then due to be held next summer.

Members of West Northamptonshire BNP were at the demonstration against the building on Tuesday afternoon at Becketts Park, Northampton where they received a good reception when handing out BNP Stop the Building leaflets.

Calls have been made for police to clamp down on men meeting for illicit gay sex sessions in a quiet country lane, near the village of Ashby St Ledgers. Sexual paraphernalia, including ropes, have been discovered in nearby woodland by disgusted residents. One villager said: "It's men that go up there at all times of the day. It seems to have got worse just recently. You see vans, businessmen's cars, family cars up there. And they leave clothes, ropes, all sorts, in the woods." It is thought that activity started in the lane shortly after toilets a few miles away were closed, and information about the location is spread through internet sites. There is no law against consenting adults having sex outdoors, so long as other members of the public cannot see. After two recounts the Tories accepted that Labour managed to hold on by just seven votes. Although the Tories put a lot of work in to close the gap, Labour pulled out all the stops on the day to get their voters out while the Conservatives did not even bother telling, which in hindsight they may regret. A disappointing result for us given the time and effort we put into this ward. Two HnH leaflets obviously took their toll, while the Lib Dem vote of 80 surprised everyone as they had put absolutely no work in whatsoever. Clive Skinner wishes to thank everyone who helped out.

A couple of weeks off from pounding the streets to lick our wounds and see where we go from here.

Kettering Northfield by election

Quarter past six on the morning of the Kettering Northfield by-election and I have a few minutes to spare to write a quick blog while I eat my cornflakes and drink my tea (which I cannot function without). Having been involved in a few elections over the past few years I usually get a sense for how they are going to turn out, but today's is a tough one to predict. We have certainly put a lot of work in but whether all that has been undone by the HnH lies remains to be seen. So, the best of British to Clive Skinner the BNP candidate, let's hope he can pull a shock out of the bag after what has been a run of slightly disappointing results.

Mystery Man Unveiled

A few people have asked who is the mystery person behind the Hope not Hate leaflets in Kettering, well I can tell you that it is Craig Plowman (of Hill Street as he proudly tells us), who also happens to be vice chair of Race Action Kettering, Former TGWU shop steward, member of Kettering Inter Racial Social Partnership, Vice President of Northamptonshire Trades Union council, Vice Chair of UNITE Northants District Committee. One would have thought with all these hats he would be far too busy to also be Organiser for Kettering Hope not Hate and organise leaflets. He is also a member of Northamptonshire Racial Equality Council and stood as a candidate for Respect in the East Midlands in the 2005 Euro elections. If he is so keen on elections one wonders why he didn't bother to put his own name forward as a candidate to stand in his own ward. I for one hope he has the Hill Street Blues tomorrow night.

People from Northamptonshire are invited to visit an exhibition and give their views on the plans for future housing growth in and around Northampton, Daventry, and Towcester. Make sure your feelings are heard.

People from villages across Northamptonshire marched in Northampton town centre to protest against proposals for massive new housing developments yesterday. Well in excess of 200 people followed tractors in yesterday's march from Becket's Park to the West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit's (JPU) headquarters in Bedford Road. Among those highlighting their opposition to destruction of the countryside over the next 15 to 20 years were schoolchildren and people in their 80s.

A large cannabis factory containing up to 400 plants has been discovered in a semi-detached house in Forfar Street, St James, Northampton. Police officers uncovered the drugs haul after they executed a warrant to search a property at 3pm yesterday. Four rooms in the property, including the loft, were full of cannabis plants and dried cannabis, indicating the house had been used for drugs production for a long time. Electricity at the property had been illegally diverted to power lights to grow the drugs, in a similar way to a property raided in Northumbria Gardens, Abington, last Friday. There is no indication of how many, if any, people were arrested.

We know who is responsible for organising and distributing these leaflets and we will be taking appropriate action.

Just so other groups can be ready to combat these latest lies I have copied the leaflet below.

The voters in Northfield are not stupid, we have spoken to them on the doorsteps, they can see through the lies that are none other scaremongering. After all wasn't it Gordon Brown this very afternoon at the Labour Conference who said that single young mothers should be put in homes run by matrons? What an own goal - back of the net.

You Cannot Force Integration

The 'Islam 4 Peace' exhibition held in the Guildhall over Friday and Saturday failed to woo many Kuffirs through the doors. Having heard a couple of reports of the exhibition I thought I would pop in to see what was happening. I have to admit I did not feel completely comfortable or welcome and felt I was being eyed with suspicion. At the time I visited there were only two people that were not of the BME community. The organisers may have felt the exhibition was a success but this was one of two events partly backed by Northampton Borough Council I attended over the weekend that I feel was a flop. The other event I went to was on Saturday evening, Crackers? Now considering this event was free and with a crowd in the region of 12-15,000, you could count BME attendees on one hand. Given the BME population percentage in Northampton you would have thought more would have attended, but why didn't they? This event was non-religious and non-political...just a good free fun night out, so where is the integration?

The countryside will invade Northampton tomorrow when hundreds of protesters led by tractors will march through the town centre at 4.30pm. The campaigners, from an expected 23 villages across rural Northamptonshire, will parade from Becket's Park in the centre of Northampton to the headquarters of the West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit (JPU) in Bedford Road. Dressed in black to represent "the potential death of the countryside", they hope to raise the plight of villages which they say would be swamped by plans to build thousands of new houses around the edges of Northampton. The march has been organised by members of the Quinton Action Group, which opposes documents drawn up by the JPU which suggest up to 18,000 new houses could be built between Grange Park and Little Houghton on the south-west of Northampton. The protest is set to bring rush hour traffic to a stand still which is what will happen every day if the planned development goes ahead. Now, I wonder how many of the BME community will be joining the march in an attempt to save the British countryside?

People living near the proposed Kettering East development at Barton Seagrave failed to be won over when they were given the chance to see and quiz experts on the plans. More than 200 people turned out to see outline plans for about 5,500 new homes to the east of Barton Seagrave and the Ise Lodge estate in Kettering, displayed at Kettering Conference Centre yesterday. After viewing maps of the plans and details of the infrastructure that will be built alongside the housing, including proposals to widen the A14, and watching a presentation about the planning process, more than 60 concerned residents questioned representatives from the developer, the Highways Agency, the Environment Agency and Kettering Council. Developers plan to build 600 houses a year, which works out at almost 12 houses a week, if the application goes ahead. Jim Hakewill, leader of Kettering Council, was pleased with the event. He said: "I believe everyone went away with good answers, but with such a significant change within the borough there will always be people that prefer that nothing happen." I get the impression that Jim Hakewill is seeing this as a done deal, he doesn't care about the loss of valuable farming land at a time when we are being told not to waste so much food and that we are going to have to grow more of our own in the furture. Hor does he care about the damage to the environment and habit of the wildlife. All he cares about is the building of thousands of homes for people yet to arrive in this country which will suppress other house prices in the area..and why? Because he is blinded by the £180 that Kettering Borough Council will get from the deal.

A teenage illegal immigrant (un-named for legal reasons) and London-based student Yan Ling Shi, aged 22, both from China have appeared in court over farming £80,000 worth of cannabis in Lindsay Avenue, Abington earlier this year. The 16-year-old illegal immigrant Shi, were arrested by police on May 13, after they fled a raid on the house. Police constables were called to the home next door, after neighbours reported they could smell cannabis coming from their fireplace. A police helicopter was scrambled which detected a large amount of heat escaping from the suspect house's roof and officers executed a search warrant on the house, where they found more than 220 cannabis plants. Both the Chinese admitted being at the scene at their trial yesterday, both deny being involved in growing the cannabis. Shi said he had been visiting a friend in Northampton and had no idea the cannabis plants were there! Must have been hard not to have smelt or seen 220 plants. The court heard how up to four men and boys, including the two defendants, fled from the scene as police broke down the door. The teenager was caught several streets away, while Shi was discovered barefoot under a hedge in a neighbouring garden having earlier jumped from a first floor window. The trial continues. Meanwhile, not a million miles away police are still at the scene of a cannabis factory which was discovered in Northumbria Gardens, off Birchfield Road, Abington, at about 2.30am today when a resident of a neighbouring property reported unusual activity and noise coming from the house next to his. He noticed three men in the garden of the property who ran off when approached. Police discovered a quantity of cannabis at the property and have arrested a woman.

Bin and recycling collections in Daventry are to change to a four-day week – in a bid to cut costs. From November 1, all kerbside collections for Mondays will be cancelled, although refuse crews will continue to work a 37-hour week. Because the crews will be employed to work a four day week they will no longer be paid for Bank Holiday Mondays.

Two of the three construction firms bidding to build a new leisure centre in East Northamptonshire have been heavily fined for bid-rigging. At least one of the companies was hit with a multi-million pound fine by the Office of Fair Trading for conspiring with other companies to compete for contracts. The bid rigging involves firms submitting high tenders for work they do not want – to ensure they are not left off a client's tender list for future contracts. But this week East Northamptonshire Council chief executive David Oliver revealed that two of the firms involved were in the bidding process to build the controversial multi-million pound leisure centre at Manor Park in Rushden. The proposed centre, which would replace Splash Pool in Duck Street and the Pemberton Centre in H E Bates Way, and free up their sites for the Rushden regeneration project, has been met with opposition from a number of groups in the area. A planning application for the proposed centre is expected to be submitted later this year.

Police Fail Public Confidence Test

average, figures released today by the Independent Police Complaints Commission have revealed. Between March 2008 and April 2009 a total of 422 complaints were made about the force, up from 396 the previous year. The commission revealed yesterday that recorded complaints have jumped by 270 per cent in the past five years, compared with under 100 per cent nationally. One third of all incidents related to officers' "neglect of duty", while a quarter involved complaints against "incivility and impoliteness". The IPCC said one in four complaints were judged to have merit – "significantly higher" than the one in 10 recorded by most other forces.

Meanwhile a crisis of confidence hit Northamptonshire Police when the Home Office revealed, as part of its British Crime Survey in July, that just four in 10 people in the county believed its officers were doing a good job. The lack of faith in the way the force and local authorities dealt with anti-social behaviour was described by the Government as being "significantly lower" than in other areas in the UK, and 60 per cent of people said not enough was being done to tackle yobs. Since then, officers have embarked upon a new "confidence programme" in an attempt to challenge peoples perception of crime.

Two illegal immigrants were arrested during a raid on the Uncle Li Chinese takeaway in Church Street, Crick, after receiving a tip-off about the people working there. A spokesman for the UK Border Agency said: "The intelligence-led raid resulted in the arrest of two people, a 32-year-old man from China who had entered the UK illegally and a 40-year-old Malaysian woman who had overstayed her visa. Inspector Rob Tompkins, from the Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire West Local Immigration Team, said the arrests should be seen as a warning to other business leaders to make sure they do not employ illegal workers.

More than 30 homes could be built on an allotment site in Wellingborough, despite the shortage of plots across the county. The waiting lists for allotment plots is growing, with 35 people waiting for council-owned allotments in Rushden, 30 in Kettering, 12 in Wellingborough and 70 waiting for five plots in Corby. The plans, which will go before Wellingborough Council on November 4, also include knocking down 60 Senwick Road. A spokesman for the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners (NSALG), which is based in Hunters Road, Corby, said: "NSALG is disappointed that Senwick Road allotment site in Wellingborough is being sold for development. Unfortunately, these tenants do not have the same rights as those on statutory sites – sites owned by local authorities – where they are protected by legislation." Angry parish councillors claim they are being 'gagged' by legal officials who have advised them not to take part in an anti-expansion protest march. Members of the Quinton Action Group are planning to hold a march through the middle of Northampton next week to highlight concerns about plans which suggest more than 40,000 new houses could be built around the edges of Northampton, Daventry and Towcester. But members of parish councils in the area have been sent an email from the Northamptonshire County Association of Local Councils (NCALC), which provides legal advice to authorities, warning them about the dangers of being involved in "direct action". The chairman of Ecton Parish Council, Chris Petrie, was among those who received the email. He said: "This is such a big issue and I just think it's wrong that we should be told we can't march. It seems over the top to me and I'll be going on the march. I don't see how they can stop me, the whole thing's a joke. This is a very big issue and I think people expect members of their parish council to represent the community." The protest march will start at Becket's Park in Northampton, at 4.30pm on Tuesday 29th, and lead to the Bedford Road headquarters of the group which came up with proposals, the West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit (JPU). A spokesman for the organisation said: "This whole thing has been designed to be railroaded through, that's why people are so furious." The march will include tractors being driven through Northampton town centre.

Meanwhile, on another side of town an estimated 300 people packed into Harpole church to discuss fears about Northampton's housing expansion plans on Monday. During the meeting, members of Harpole Parish Council recorded their official response to the planning proposals. The authority agreed to raise concerns about the number of new houses planned, the need for work on junction 16 of the M1 and the impact any developments could have on the countryside. Harpole Parish Council's vice-chairman, Marion Oliver, said: "We certainly got the impression people were very concerned and worried. The fear is that Northamptonshire, which has always been known as a rural county, could become something quite different." The proposals show possible development sites for 18,000 houses on land between Grange Park, Wootton and Little Houghton, 5,663 between Moulton and Overstone, 2,200 on the edge of Collingtree, 6,900 on the edge of Duston, more than 5,300 around Daventry and almost 5,000 in South Northamptonshire. Customs officers seized 30,000 cigarettes which had been smuggled into the country when they raided a shop in Corby town centre. Police and HM Revenue and Customs officers who were acting on a tip-off swooped on the Kubus shop in Everest Lane at about 11.15am yesterday. They took away a large number of cartons of cigarettes and two people were arrested on suspicion of money laundering and customs and excise offences. The shop which sells Polish, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Romanian and Kurdish food was closed after the raid.

Affordable Housing and Council Homes

Latest figures show the number of people on the council house waiting list in Northampton has increased by more than 70 per cent in the past 11 years. Figures released by the Liberal Democrats during their national conference in Bournemouth yesterday show the number of people waiting for council housing in Northampton rose from 3,409 in 1997 to 5,849 last year – a jump of 71.5 per cent. While the Lib Dems blame Labour and vice versa the Tories are the ones to blame for allowing the sale of council homes in the first place and not allowing councils to reinvest the money in new housing stock.

Job loss fears have been raised following the announcement that Cliftonville House, a major Northampton Borough Council office could be shut within six months. Northampton Borough Council chief executive, David Kennedy, confirmed to the Chronicle and Echo that the possible closure of the Bedford Road building was on the cards as part of proposals to save millions from the council's budget. The authority aims to leave the building by the end of March 2010 and future possibilities being looked into for the site include renting the offices out to a private company or demolishing the building and selling the site to developers. Staff who were moved out of Cliftonville would then be transferred to the Guildhall or the council's Westbridge depot in St James. The deputy leader of the opposition, Councillor Phil Larratt (Con, East Hunsbury) agreed, adding: "I had heard the rumour and that's not the way things like this should come out." Strange those words should emanate from a Conservative as I heard a rumour that another of the Councils in the county, which is currently Tory held, is looking to move out of one of its main offices in the not too distant future.

I am puzzled by Anjona's latest outburst on her blog. She says:

All I have done is show everyone the sort of idiots we are up against. She might like to think that we are the ones that hate, when in truth it is them that hate us for standing up for our culture, our history and our homeland. Anjona knows these race hate and abusive e-mails have emanated from people that she is aligned with.

Kettering Council Dances With The Devil

Kettering Council have asked developers to pump £180m into improving the town's infrastructure as part of a deal to build 5,500 at the 328 hectare site to the east of Barton Seagrave. The money will be spent on four primary schools and, potentially, a secondary school, town centre improvements, road upgrades and affordable housing. However, no mention has been made of the Hospital which is at full capacity already. Legal discussions are still going on to finalise the details and, on September 30, councillors could take the first step in giving the plans the go-ahead. A report by Kettering Council head of development services Cath Harvey recommends that councillors are "minded to grant outline planning permission for the development". One has to look where the developers are going to get £180m from...of course, the increased cost of houses. So Kettering Council, far from encouraging the building of affordable homes, are in effect putting a tax on every new home built in the county which will ultimately be paid for by the purchaser. Now why can't they just be up front and say so. I am sure most of Ketterings residents want to see better services, but at what cost to the environment, countryside. Ketterings roads can only hold so much traffic no matter what is done to them. Kettering Conservatives are selling the town's soul to the devil, I just hope they are ready to dance when he starts to call the tune.

The ET have reported that Police officers are investigating a racially aggravated assault at the junction of Landseer Court and Turner Road in Corby on Saturday at 2.55pm. A 26-year-old Iraqi man and his friend were walking towards Landseer Court with their shopping when two white men approached them. A chase followed and the victim was punched to the head, causing swelling and a graze to his forehead. One of the offenders is described as a white man, aged 20-25, around 5ft3" tall, of medium build with short hair. THE ET report is identical to Police report but no reason has been given for why this is a "racially aggravated" assault rather than a normal assault. We've said it before an we will say it again we condemn any attack by anyone on another person regardless of their sex, race, colour, creed or sexual preferences.

THE BNP leafleting team in Northfield, Kettering have seen that the Dope Not Soap liars have been out interfering in free and fair democratic elections this morning. How much longer do the BNP have to put up with lies being distributed to the electorate with no repercussions? Before I deal with the blatant lies on the leaflet, I wish to tackle the comments in the leaflet made by Kerry Ambler (Vice-Chair of Keystone Escape Youth Club). The BNP do not want to undo any of the hard work that you have done over the years developing and promoting harmony. The BNP do not want to cause division. It would have been nice if Kerry had tried making contact with us first before assuming that what Hope Not Hate said was true. The BNP want to extend the hours that the Keystone Escape club is open, so more Children can attend and benefit from its facilities. Another comment by someone called Craig Plowman calls us a bunch of "racists and oddballs who spit hatred". A rather sweeping generalisation there from Mr Plowman who has probably never even met a member of the BNP in Northants let alone has a conversation with one. If the BNP candidate is supposedly racist how could he possibly be married to a foreigner? The one spitting hatred, it appears, is Craig Plowman.

Now to tackle the lies:

Lie No.1 - The BNP would kick out all those people who were not born in Britain.

The BNP's repatriation policy is identical to the one put in place by the current Labour Party, therefore nothing would change. The only people the BNP would remove from the country is Illegal immigrants who have no right to be here and failed Asylum seekers, instead of locking them up in detention centres at the tax-payers expense.

Lie No.2 - If non-white people were ordered out of Britain then the NHS would collapse overnight.

As covered in Lie No.1, all non-white people will not be ordered out of the country.

Lie No.3 - The BNP would introduce apartheid into Britain.

There is nothing in the BNP manifesto that suggests this. It is nothing more than a scaremongering lie.

Lie No.4 - Mixed-race relationships would be outlawed.

What utter rubbish. There are several members of the BNP in Northamptonahire alone in mixed race relationships. You can't help who you fall in love with.

Lie No.5 - The BNP's answer to violent crime is to allow every household to have a gun.

This is an exaggeration. Ex military personnel that have been trained to use a weapon would be allowed to keep one on their premises. If this were such a barmy idea then I am sure the Swiss must be barmy too as the same applies there.

The TUC, which is the Trade Unions Congress, where good and the great of the Unions gather annually to spell out what they think is wrong with the country, has this year heard several calls from some of the largest Unions in the country for members of a legitimate political party to be sacked for their political beliefs. Where are the howls of condemnation from the liberal-left do-gooders? Nowhere to be heard. If this had been proposed in Russia, china, or some other country that was ruled by a fascist dictatorship they would be up in arms. The UAF and the Unions that back them have shown once again that they the real fascists. The ones that want to persecute people for their political beliefs, hound them out of work so they cannot afford to live, isn't this what the Hitler and the majority of political tyrants around the world do to stifle opposition? They cannot argue against common sense and the truth, so they suppress and stifle free speech instead, typical of what happened to free-thinkers in Marxist Russia. Why pick on the BNP when any member of the following can carry on working within the public sector with no witchunt: Socialist Workers Party, Communists, National Front, IRA, KGB, Al-Qaeda,...need I go on? I always thought the Unions were there to protect the jobs of British workers, I thought this government signed up to the Declaration of Human Rights? It appears I know bugger all. The left are outraged by the thought that this country would be turned into a fascist dictatorship by the BNP, there is no need, someone has already done it and not only are they too blind to see it but like a pack of frenzied blood thirsty foxhounds, are tearing at the carcass for more red meat.

Third world style election fraud has hit Birmingham again, this time in a by-election in Sparkbrook ward on Thursday. Police are investigating the worst outbreak of voter fraud for five years as 400 postal votes cast – a third of the total issued – were rejected as likely forgeries! The BNP unsurprisingly did not stand in the ward that is 50% Pakistani and 'won' by (dis)Respect.

Northampton Bound Illegals Stopped In Calais

Five illegal immigrants have been discovered by border officials hiding in a lorry bound for Northampton. they were discovered when a carbon dioxide reader was used to uncover the presence of the stowaways, after immigration staff stopped a Polish-registered lorry as it was making its way from France to the UK. A spokesman for the UK Border Agency (UKBA) said the lorry company could now face hefty fines after the swoop, which took place in Calais at about 4am on Sunday, September 11. The five men were fingerprinted, photographed, refused entry to the UK and handed over to the French authorities. Since January UKBA officials have stopped more than 14,000 individual attempts to cross the channel illegally and have searched more than 400,000 freight vehicles, but as we know some still get through.

An 80-year-old woman from Corby has been the victim of fraud following a call to her home asking for bank details. She received calls over a period of time, with the caller purporting to be from a company called 'AGM Right To Claim' and stating that if she provided her bank details, the company would refund her thousands of pounds of bank charges. Within minutes of providing her account number and sort code, and despite immediately contacting the bank, a sum of money had already been taken from the account. Please warn elderly relatives of this scam and not to reveal their bank details over the phone.

General Election Campaign Starts Now

Northamptonshire East BNP continued their tour of the region with a meeting in Kettering last night. The collection raised £120.00 which will go towards our election fighting fund. with a General election due next May at the latest we need to raise as much money as we can in Northamptonshire East to enable us to stand candidates. I know some members make regular donations to the central party, but the local group has asked that for the next eight months can any money that would normally go to the central party please be paid to the local group. If anyone would like to make a regular contribution I have some Standing Order forms. Unlike a Direct Debit a standing order is something you are in control of. Corby appears to be bucking the recent trend of rising unemployment with the news that the number of jobseekers in Corby has dropped for the fourth month in a row. A total of 2,079 were on jobseekers' allowance in the town during August, a fall of 119 on the previous month. While Corby Council chief executive Chris Mallender believes that a report that said Corby was least prone to the recession must have been true, there are other reasons for Corby bucking the trend. There is no sign of any new jobs being created in the town, other than in construction, which leads me to the conclusion that jobs are being created as Eastern European migrants return. Meanwhile the British buy-out of clothes company Aquascutum gives fresh hope to more than 120 workers at the company's Princewood Road base in the town.

Moves to sell four former school sites in Northampton have been backed by the leaders of Northamptonshire County Council. The council's cabinet last night backed plans to sell the former Cherry Orchard, Ryelands, Great Billing and Ecton Brook middle school sites for an expected £6.5 million, or an average of just over £1.6 million per site. The move comes almost a year after an earlier deal to sell 15 school sites in the town to housing developer Barratt for a rumoured £90 million, or £6 million a site, collapsed due to Barratt's no loner having the funds. The latest deal has been rightly criticised by opposition members at County Hall because of the lower prices now being considered for the land, but the council's cabinet member for finance, Councillor Bill Parker (Con, Brambleside), said the authority had to get the best deals it could in the current economic climate. In other words, Bill Parker, who had his bum spanked over the Carillion fiasco, is now panicking to get funds into the coffers, even if it does mean a bad deal for the tax payer. Land prices have not fallen that much over the past year and it smacks of a panic sale by the Tories. The sites were declared surplus to requirements by the council following the construction of a number of new schools in Northampton. Sites where decisions on their future have currently been put 'on hold' by the authority include those at Abington Vale, Kingsthorpe Middle, Parklands and St Luke's Primary.

Latest figures by Northamptonshire police show that over the past 12 months the number of crimes in Barton Seagrave, Burton Latimer, Desborough and Rothwell has increased by 46 on the previous year's numbers. Of the four towns, Rothwell accounted for the largest amount, with 509 crimes being reported. Of these, 172 were criminal damage and 79 were violent offences – although this has dropped from 98 last year. Crime in Barton Seagrave has risen by 11 to 184 crimes over the past 12 months, with the largest increase being in criminal damage, with a rise from 45 to 57. However, thefts and fraud have dropped. The largest drop in crime happened in Burton Latimer, with crimes falling by a total of 40. In Desborough, crime has fallen slightly from 380 to 369, with an 11 per cent drop in the number of criminal damage cases reported. The largest increase in crime was in theft and handling cases, which rose by a third. The worst statistic of all is that in all four towns, about three quarters of crimes are unsolved.

Lies, Damn Lies and Corruption

I am beginning to think that radical Muslims extremists and the UAF are Teflon coated as for the second time in three weeks they pelt the police with sticks, stones, bottles and fireworks, yet nothing sticks to them. In fact the handful of people that turned up to protest at a new mosque being built in Harrow were the roundly criticized by the government and media. Have the days when people can peacefully protest gone without a rent a mob gang of bully boys turning up and causing mayhem with the full backing of the government and leader of the opposition? It is becoming more and more obvious that the government are hell bent on appeasing the Muslims in a sordid vote grubbing exercise in an attempt to make up for their involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. If this, and successive governments do not do something radical themselves over the next few years I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that not only this country but the whole of Europe will be an Islamic state within the lifetime of our children. Given how easily these extremists are whipped up into a frenzy by a few UAF ringleaders with loud-halers chanting 'Smash the BNP' when the BNP are not even there, causes even greater concern. Weyman Bennett and Ken Livingstone are just two that should be arrested for inciting violence and race hate crimes. They are no different to Abu Hamza. I cannot for the life of me see why Socialists are so eager to assist the Islamification of Britain. One only has to look at the short lived co-operation between the Muslim Community and the Socialist Workers Party members in the Respect party to see there are irreconcilable differences. While their hate is firmly focused on anything that resembles a right wing group they are taking their eye of the enemy within that will eventually destroy them.

A TV report on the Harrow Mosque riot can be seen below. It is a typical, one sided propaganda piece from the media. The BNP is mentioned several times although the BNP have done all they can to distance themselves from the groups that organised this demonstration. Even an interview with the vile and odious Wayman Bennet saw him mention the BNP. The lies just stream from the mouth of this traitor to the country. members of the public who are sitting at home watching this on TV will believe what they are hearing and swallow it hook line and sinker.

Being beaten by the Conservatives in this ward at this moment in time is no disgrace, however, we should have beaten Labour and the Lib Dems and in hindsight the Independent candidate, who is a Town councillor in another ward, probably did us more damage than anticipated. I've not seen any leaflets that were distributed by any parties, or any smear leaflets that would have been distributed, so I am unaware of who has said what. No doubt the result would have brought a smile to the faces of Anjona Roy and Paul Crofts who will be slapping each others backs saying how well their anti-BNP campaign worked, when in reality the result was more down to a poor campaign on the BNP's part. I know David is not a quitter and I am sure he will bounce back to fight another day. The turnout of under 20% says more about how the three main parties have completely turned the electorate off politics . Unfortunately, those that have not voted will probably be among the first to complain. If you don't vote you are in effect voting for things to stay the same. If you want change you have to go out and make your voice heard.

In the other election for Daventry District Council, the Conservatives unsurprisingly had an easy victory in Yelvertoft.

A drugs mule from Northamptonshire has been jailed for 10 years after being caught with more than 100 packets of cocaine inside his stomach. Alexejs Malinovs, a 23-year-old of Eastern Avenue South, St David's, swallowed the packets containing £127,000 worth of the Class A drug and then attempted to bring it into the UK through Heathrow Airport in May. He denied knowingly importing a Class A drug but it took the jury just 24 minutes to find him guilty. Judge Jonathan Lowen said he was jailing Malinovs for 10 years because of the severity of his crime. He also recommended he should serve a minimum of five years and be deported back to Latvia on release, whereupon he will be quite at liberty to stroll back into the UK again.

An unpopular proposal to build almost 50 houses on a patch of land in Greens Norton near Towcester has been recommended for refusal by planners. The scheme would mean the development of 49 homes and a new access road on 1.5 hectares on the south-eastern edge of the village. It has been met 577 letters of objection from residents, the county council and the parish council. Greens Norton Parish Council said the number of houses should be reduced, working hours and deliveries restricted and a section 106 agreement should be finalised. The plans will be considered at a meeting of South Northants Council's development control committee on Thursday, September 17.

Anjona Roy Under Investigation by Labour Party

According to former Labour MP and now Independent Borough and County councillor Tony Clarke's blog the Northampton South Constituency Labour Party has been suspended. Four of their most misguided loyal members Anjona Roy, Geoff Howes, Kathy Smith and Alan Scott are under further investigation. The internal back stabbing at Northampton South has been going on since the expulsion of Tony Clarke a few years ago. Any sign of the national and local party's pulling in one direction were shattered when Clyde Loakes was chosen as Prospective parliamentary candidate ahead of Anjona Roy. The reason the gang of four are under further investigation is because Tony Clarke endorsed Geoff Howes as a candidate on an official Labour election leaflet. It is all very petty and shows the Labour party up for the bunch of spoilt schoolkids they are. I have often wondered why Anjona has persisted with the Labour Party given what has happened in Northampton South, maybe this time she will get out and join Tony Clarke's gang of Independents...now what are the odds on Anjona standing against Sally Keeble in Northampton North in the next general election? More on Anjona later.

The first new council houses to be built in Northampton for more than twenty years are due to be completed by 2011 after the Government agreed a grant of more than £450,000. The scheme will see eight new houses built on a former garage site in Woodside Way, Kings Heath, which has been blighted by antisocial behaviour in the past. The £451,913 funding will allow the council to work with housing developers, the Orbit Group, which has been operating in the Northampton area for more than 20 years, to build the family-sized homes. The borough council was chosen by the Government as one of 47 authorities across the country to benefit from the money for new housing schemes. The location for the new homes, although may not being the most salubrious of areas, is at least a brownfield site.

Council leaders have come under fire yet again, this time after latest figures revealed Northampton Borough Council spent £3.7 million on consultants in the past two-and-a-half years since the Lib Dems took control. The borough council spent £32,483 on consultants in 2001 with the figure rising to £416,359 in 2004 and £1.3 million in 2005. However, the figures, obtained by the Chronicle and Echo show that a further £2,293,060 was spent in the year between May 2007 and April 2008. In the financial year 2008/09, the council gave a further £1,165,074 to consultants, followed by £298,436 between April and August this year. As expected both the Tories and Labour have deeply condemned the amount but one only has to look at the County Council to see how much the Conservatives have spent on consultants to see they are no better.

Anjona Roy has urged Northampton Borough Council not to squander £315,000 of Government funding intended to help prevent terrorism. In 2007, the Government awarded Northampton Borough Council the cash as part of a nationwide programme, but new figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show that in the two years the Guildhall has had the cash it has spent less than £4,600, despite only having a three-year 'window' to spend the money. Ms Roy, the chief executive of the Northamptonshire Race Equality Council, Anjona Roy, said that while most people believed there was no problem with extremism in the area, the council should not let the money simply be reclaimed by the Government. She said: "I think they've spent an awful lot of time wondering what to do with the money, but this is a gift horse and it would be very unfortunate if they looked it in the mouth." Public knowledge of the anti-terrorism money was first raised in April when representatives from across Northampton's Muslim community criticised the Government award for suggesting Northampton had problems with terrorist sympathisers. The Government's 'Prevent' scheme automatically gives money to any town with an estimated Muslim population of more than 4,000. In Northampton, there are between 8,000 and 10,000 Muslims who have come to the area from an estimated 26 different countries, including Somalia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Thankfully we do not appear to have a problem with radical extremists in any sector of our society and long may it be that way. Anjona should learn when to keep her do-gooder nose out of things. If the Muslim community does not want the money, my suggestion is the Borough council donates it to the BNP.

Two siblings from Vietnam who claim to be husband and wife allegedly brought up to 100 illegal immigrants into the UK in a suspected international people trafficking operation. Hanh Vu, aged 40, was brought from custody to Northampton Crown Court yesterday facing charges involving people trafficking, money laundering and sham marriage. He appeared in court with Duc Thi Vu, also known as Phuong Huynh, aged 37 who, the prosecution alleges, is his sister as well as his wife. It is alleged they went through a sham marriage in September 1998 in order to remain in this country. Part of the prosecution case alleges Hanh Vu was able to gain entry into the UK and remain here by 'marriage' to his sister who was granted the right to remain here. Hanh Vu, of Church Arcade, Bedford, is accused of smuggling up to 100 illegal immigrants or asylum-seekers into the UK and then putting them to work in hotels and nail bars in London and Northamptonshire. Vu yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces. He denies obtaining Home Office travel documents by deception in July 2002, falsely claiming he was married to Duc Vu, and making a false declaration in September 1998 by declaring there was no impediment to their marriage or to marrying a blood relative. He also denies two charges of assisting illegal entry into the UK between 2001 and 2003, five charges of transferring up to £43,000 of criminal property, allegedly transferring money back to his homeland, concealing £21,129 of criminal property in August 2008 and obtaining travel documents from the Home Office by deception in July 1990. The case against him was adjourned for a two-week trial in January next year. Duc Thi Vu, of St Clement's Drive, Bletchley, appeared for the same hearing and pleaded guilty to three of the charges she faces. Judge Thomas Corrie, who released her on bail, ordered a probation report and said Duc Vu would be sentenced at the conclusion of her brother's trial in the New Year.

Alexejs Malinovs, of Eastern Avenue South, Kingsthorpe, was forced to swallow more than 100 packets of cocaine worth tens of thousands of pounds and smuggle it into Heathrow, a court heard. he was found to have £127,000 worth of the class A drug inside him when he was arrested by customs officers at the airport in May. The 23-year-old had returned from Lima in Peru where he claimed at Isleworth Crown Court ruthless smugglers had threatened him with a gun and said they would hurt his family in his home country of Latvia. Malinovs, who had been working as a forklift operator for Morrisons in Northampton, told the jury he had swallowed the 106 packages during an eight-hour ordeal. Malinovs, who had trained as a cook in Latvia, had gone on holiday to Panama in April and briefly stopped in the Dutch capital Amsterdam. There, the court heard, he broke up with his girlfriend before taking another holiday in Peru between May 6 and May 16 in order to forget his woes. He claimed he met several people while in Peru who turned on him after he refused to smuggle some packages through customs and into the UK. They then forced him to swallow the drugs packages at a hotel. Malinovs is charged with knowingly importing a Class C drug into the UK. Defence counsel, Kakoly Pande, said her client was forced against his will to smuggle the drug, which he did not know was illegal. The trial continues.

The Lib Dem run Northampton Borough Council accused of "surrendering to the Government" over expansion plans for Northampton have vowed to fight to reduce the number of new homes destined to be built in the town. At the end of June, the West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit (JPU), a group made up of councillors from across Northampton, Daventry and South Northamptonshire, published details of where more than 40,000 new homes could be built around Northampton, Daventry and Towcester. Last night, members of Northampton Borough Council voted on their official response to the plan, agreeing to call for a reduction in the number of new houses, but accepting a plan for the town's expansion was needed. Their stance was opposed by both anti-expansion campaigners and several rebel councillors. Whitehills resident, Ian Suter, who is the leader of a campaign against a major housing development in the north-west of Northampton, argued councillors should stick to their pre-election promises and oppose expansion. Well, unfortunately this is what happens when you vote for any of the three main parties, you just cannot trust a single word they say. He said: "You were going to stand up against central Government, but we now find you've switched sides. You've joined the JPU and you're supporting policies you were supposed to oppose. Shame on you. Remember your campaign pledges, reject this plan because it's not what the people of Northampton need and it's not what they want." The leader of the authority, Councillor Tony Woods (Lib Dem, St Davids) said: "In Northampton we need some 8,000 new homes just to cater for existing demand, not in 20 years time." Where are these 8,000+ people Tony? I understand the need for more sheltered and social housing but this is not what Woodsy is saying.

News that the UK is coming out of recession cuts no mustard in Kettering as around 500 people queued to apply for just 25 jobs up for grabs at the new QD store to open in Kettering. Job-seekers queued outside the Comfort Hotel Royal in Kettering yesterday as the discount store began its recruitment drive. Interviews will continue tomorrow to fill posts at the store which is due to open in the former Woolworth's building in October. Earlier this year, the company held a similar recruiting campaign in Wellingborough when about 1,700 people filled in application forms.

Jury Out on English Democrat Candidate

On Friday I posted a blog about the English Democrat candidate for Kettering's Northfield ward, Kevin Sills, well it appears he has a few more strings to his bow.

In the 1997 general election he stood for the National Democrats in South Leicester, attaining 0.6% of the vote. Now considering his flirtation with Nationalist politics with the National Democrats and the National Front, he did something earlier this year (apart from stand in the local elections as an independent) that causes me to raise an eyebrow.

If you cast your eyes over to the West Midlands in the Euro elections you will see that there were 6MEP's elected, all parties put up six candidates, except the Jury team who put up just five...I'll give you three guesses as to who their 6th candidate should have been? I do not know if Kevin withdrew his candidacy from the Jury Team or was pushed out because of his Nationalist history, I cannot find out by trawling the internet, but if anyone knows please leave a comment.

I have read on the Democracy forum, Steve Uncles, the South east organiser of the English Democrats, defending Kevin as a candidate, saying its what he believes in now that matters. However, a few months ago he believed something different, who is to say that in a months time he would not have joined the Monster Raving Loony Party? On a more local level, there has been silence from local organiser Derek Hilling.

Northants Police Spend Almost £1,000 a Day on Translation

Following on from yesterdays post about Northamptonshire police being strapped for cash, it has been revealed that force in the county spent £324,758 on translators during 2008, almost £1,000 every day. The total compares with just £113,000 for neighbouring "most similar force" Warwickshire. Temporary deputy chief constable Derek Talbot said translation costs had been factored into policing budgets and added the force was committed to getting value for money. He said: "We are policing an increasingly diverse community which requires us to use interpreters more and more, both on the telephone and by calling them out to interpret directly." "The service offers interpreters who can speak 45 different languages." Shadow immigration minister Damian Green, who submitted the Freedom of Information request, said the statistics showed the strain immigration had put on public services. He said: "This reveals one more hidden cost of the failure to control immigration numbers under this Government." Strange that under a Conservative government he will not be able to do anything to to address the issue.

Northampton and Corby have been named as two of 22 house repossession hotspots that are to benefit from Government help. The Government has launched a national campaign to urge struggling homeowners to "get help" and take control of their finances. The other "hotspots" where extra adverts will appear are Barking and Dagenham, Knowsley, Salford, Newham, Walsall, Redditch, Halton, Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, Bolton, Liverpool, Sunderland, Reading, Wigan, Swindon, Kingston upon Hull and Cannock Chase. It doesn't take political genius to see that most of these areas are Labour or ex-Labour strongholds. It looks to me that the government are attempting to soften up wavering voters in areas where a small swing to the Conservatives could lose them a seat in the general election or a small swing to Labour could win it back from the Lib Dems. I hope the electorate can see through this subtle piece of electioneering an do not fall for it.

Throwing Good Money After Bad

A review into the five police forces in the East Midlands has shown there will be a £35 million shortfall in funding for policing in the region by the end of March 2011. The East Midlands police collaboration project, between police forces in the east Midlands, has published the figures in its three-year plan. It shows underfunding from Government and a potential freeze in cash in coming years will put extra pressure on already stretched forces. At budget discussions in Northamptonshire it was revealed the county force would have to find an extra £3 million in unidentified efficiency savings for the next financial year, but the new collaboration report suggests the financial situation is likely to get worse. We are told that Northamptonshire is one of the fastest growing population areas in the country so you would have thought that some of the shortfall would be made up for by increased revenue in council tax, but this does not appear to be the case. This is in part due to the police having to deal with an increasing population that does not work and therefore pays no council tax. There is an estimated 4,000 asylum seekers in Northampton alone with the majority being of Somali origin. It has been documented that the Somali male is the least likely person to be in employment. As the law stands at the moment, asylum seekers cannot work for the first six months they are in the country, bearing in mind that the vast majority should not be here in the first place as they have travelled through numerous safe-countries to get here. If the government chooses to accept these 'illegal asylum seekers' then the least they can do is be honest and tell the tax payer that they are going to have to cough up more money for the emergency services and the reasons why. Couple this with an unknown number illegal immigrants, who by default will not be registered with the authorities, so will pay absolutely nothing into central or local government coffers, the financial gulf gets wider and wider. The government is not investing in any of the emergency services that the county needs for its ever expanding population. So, something will have to give, which will probably mean a substantial rise in council tax next year and possibly the following years as well to cover the shortfall. This news comes on the same day that it was revealed that Northamptonshire Police managed to write off eight police cars in accidents during the past financial year. Figures released by the force showed the total cost of damage amounted to more than £55,500, but almost £5,000 would be reclaimed as three of the accidents were not the fault of the officer driving.

An illegal immigrant who lied to Northamptonshire police about his identity in 2007 was caught when his fingerprints were taken for another offence two years later. Yousri El Mansouri, 26, appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice. The court heard that in May 2007 he was arrested and cautioned for criminal damage and possession of cannabis. He gave police the name and date of birth of a friend he had come to the UK with from Tunisia. He said he couldn't remember being arrested in 2007 but accepted the photos which were taken were him. El Mansouri came to this country about five years ago illegally, he has been now been granted temporary status but also served with a deportation notice! He was caught when arrested on June 15 this year for an assault on his partner, a UK national, with whom he has a daughter. The case was adjourned until September 24 for pre-sentence reports.

Changing Face of British Politics

I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I did my usual trawl around the internet and saw this story in the Times Online that the BBC are going to allow the BNP on Question Time. Question Time, which was once a serious political show, has over the years descended into little more than a pantomime show for politicians as the BBC seemingly just filled the panel with politically correct numpties who put down anyone that disagree with their vision of utopia. In one episode I saw the other panelists were so left of centre that Shami Chakrabarti came across as the panelist that was speaking the most sense! One wonders whether the BBC are also going to be a bit more flexible when it comes to their audience selection. I know several people that have applied on numerous occasions to be in the audience for Question Time and if you want to get on the show make sure you do not put down on the application form that you are a BNP voter. I think Nick Griffin appearing on Question time will almost certainly be a boost to the shows dwindling viewing figures. I have to admit to having only seen a couple of programmes in the past year as it makes me so angry. In both programmes the BNP were criticised and condemned with blatant lies told by politicians and z-list celebrities with absolutely no right to reply.

One topic of conversation high on the agenda of most BNP members at the moment is the challenge of the Party's constitution by the leader of the Commission for Equality & Human Rights (CEHR), Trevor 'Lenin' Philips. It certainly brings up a few issues when you start looking at it from different angles. Many supporters of the UAF/Searchlight do not appear to be in favour of the action by the CEHR, one can only ask why? Do they not want a British National Party that allows BME members? The answer appears to be no as it takes the bulk of their argument against the BNP away. If the BNP do change their membership criteria and UAF/Searchlight continue their opposition I think it will further highlight who the real fascists really are. Denial of Freedom of speech is what they will be arguing for as they will no longer be able to play the Race card. I know for a fact that some of the BME community will join the Party if they are allowed because they support the BNP's policies, not because they want to create internal havoc within the Party.

When the case was first mentioned, there was a member of Operation Black Vote (OBV) who said that they would swamp the BNP and force it to close. I hope he sees the irony in what he was saying. His cunning plan would not work anyway, would someone that is so opposed to the BNP not only want to pay to be a member for a few years, but also go to meetings, be an activist, leaflet, and canvass because this is what they would need to do to become a voting member of the party. As a voting member they will be entitled to put their proposal(s) to the Regional Voting Members meeting (next one on the 18th September by the way) where it will be discussed amongst other Regional voting members about whether it should be put forward to the Advisory Council, who then choose one proposal from each region to be put forward at Conference. The Conference will then vote on whether to accept, amend or decline such proposals.

Another way I heard that some people from OBV planned to close the BNP down was to join the party and the sue for racial discrimination if they were not chosen as candidates. The choice of candidates for local elections is usually down to the local group or branch, and again the local group or branch is unlikely to choose a candidate that has not been an active member regardless of the colour of their skin. Seeing that the BNP have elected Jewish and Turkish Councillors racism is not rife within the party.

Whatever the outcome some current members may review their allegiance, personally I'm happy where I am. I did not join the BNP because it does not allow anyone from BME groups to join, I joined because I agree with the party's election manifesto.

My main concern is what the CEHR may be creating. People do not like being told what they can say, think and do. The more extreme or belligerent members of the BNP that feel they cannot tolerate being in the same party as BME's (which I do not believe will be many) will have their options cut off. Rule changes for the BNP will also mean the same for other parties further to the right like the National Front, which I would imagine would close down and become and underground movement. The problem with an underground movement is that you do not know where it is, what it is up to. The outcome of the CEHR action against the BNP will be much greater than first appears. I feel it will spark an increase in far right extremism, possibly terrorism, not from the BNP, but from the people forced underground.

Northampton Borough Councillors expenses

Latest figures show taxpayers in Northampton spent more than £433,000 on wages for members of Northampton Borough Council last year. The details, which were published yesterday, show for the first time how much councillors take home after their allowances were controversially increased at the end of 2008. The top 10 elected members received a total of almost £150,000 between th em, while the figures also reveal councillors made combined claims of almost £7,500 for 'travel and subsistence' claims. The figures reveal the councillor to receive the highest amount of money was former Mayor, Councillor Brian Markham (Lib Dem, Headlands), but his payment of £26,974 included more than £20,000 which is given to the Mayor to cover donations to charities, collections and foreign visits. Behind him in the list of top earners was the leader of the authority, Councillor Tony Woods (Lib Dem, St Davids) and the council's cabinet members.

Councillor Brian Hoare (Lib Dem, Abington) is deputy leader of the authority and supported the allowance increases when they were introduced. Of the 47 councillors at the Guildhall, six Liberal Democrat members refused to take the 2008 pay increase and a number also refused to accept any backdated pay. More than half the councillors also decided to make no travel or subsistence claims, while others put in claims of up to £750. The final bill for all the allowances and expenses claims made by all 47 councillors was £433,407.39. One also has to bear in mind that quite a few of these councillors also receive money from elsewhere for being involved with unelected quango's such as the West Northants Development Corporation.

We were expecting the English Democrats to put up a candidate, but the one they have chosen appears to be a bit of a shock. Kevin Sills stood as an Independent in the recent County Council elections in Rothwell, so it looks like he has recenty joined the English Democrats. Could this be the same Kevin Sills that was a one time National Front member, who went on to be the Regulatory Officer of the short lived Freedom Party who had as its Chairman a Barrister called Adrian Davies who represented the controversial British Holocaust denier David Irving at his libel case appeal? It looks like local English Democrat organiser Derek Hilling has not done his homework.

The English Democrats have always escaped the wrath of the UAF, Searchlight and Hope Not Hate as they have appeared as the acceptable face of right wing politics. I am sure I am not alone in finding their choice of candidate puzzling. It'll be interesting to see whether 'Kettering 4 All' or whatever banner the Northants Race Equality Council decide to try to smear the BNP under will take this into account or whether they will churn out their same bog standard literature full of lies.

For those people trying to dig up any dirt on Clive Skinner, he was for his sins a former member of the Conservatives and he is married to a woman that is not British! Let's see how the leftist lies get around this one.

Perverted history, Cllr Caught Lying Again

One local Councillor, who is well known for his willing assistance in perverting British history and culture, has on his blog, a Calendar of Events. One event for September 4th is Barnet Horse Fair, which Mr Crofts added to the Calendar with his own fair hands (see screenshot above). He describes Barnet Horse fair as being a Gypsy/Roma/Traveller event. As someone that was born and bred in the area I know he is talking out of his hat.

On 6th February 1588 Queen Elizabeth I granted a charter to the Lord of the Manor of Barnet (Charles Butler and "his heirs and assigns") the right to hold a weekly market on Mondays (which closed a few years ago) and a twice yearly fair. Over the years Barnet fair became famous as the place to go for livestock, especially horses and cattle. In 1758 John Tomlinson, The Lord of the Manor of Barnet was granted permission to change the dates of the fairs from June to April for the first one and from October to September for the second due to it being better for business. Animals were driven from all over the country to the Barnet fairs, with Cattle from Scotland, cows from Devon and ponies from Wales. In September 1834 it was reported in The Times that Barnet Fair was the largest cattle market in all of England with up to 40,000 animals on offer and £100,000 being taken in trade on the first day. By the mid 18th century Barnet fair had become associated with horse racing and races were held on the last three days of the event. The course they ran on was where the present high Barnet station now is and the last race held there was "The Barnet Stakes" on September 6th 1870. The April fair ended in 1881. The September fair today is a pale imitation, being just a fun fair with no cattle market, thanks to the travellers who saw the fair as an perfect foil for theft, burglary, deception and violence. Some things never change, the minority spoiling things for the majority!

Now unless Mr Crofts is suggesting that Queen Elizabeth I or the Charles Butler, the Lord of the Manor were, to put in in the common slang of the day, Pikeys, he has his history totally incorrect. Maybe he should stick to Black History as it appears he knows bugger all about British history.

Furious protesters gathered to voice their objections at the final exhibition about plans to build 40,000 homes around Northampton and Daventry. The strength of feeling against the proposals and unelected Quango's that are driving this forward was shown as protesters held placards at the exhibition at Wootton Community Centre yesterday and spoke in raised voices against the controversial plans. Nola Collyer, aged 55, who has lived in Quinton for 25 years, said: "We just feel it's going to swallow up our villages, and the brownfield sites should be looked at first. They are saying 'No' is not an option, but we want to get the message out that it is an option." Stephen Blyth, who lives in Roade and belongs to the Northamptonshire branch of environmental charity Friends of the Earth, said: "We are very much against the scale of this, which we feel is totally inappropriate for Northampton." Jo Clamp, of Collingtree, called the plans "absolute madness", while Linda Roseblade, also from Collingtree, said she had major concerns about flooding in Collingtree Park. The exhibition was the last one before the consultation period ends on September 30. Make sure you have your say by going to the Joint Planning Unit Consultation website.

The Royal British Legion is appealing for more volunteers to help distribute poppies in Northamptonshire. The Poppy Appeal is the Legion's principal way of raising money to help provide financial, social and emotional support to the serving and ex-service community and last year raised a record £31million nationally, £366,628 of which was raised in the Northamptonshire. The organisation has some 300,000 volunteers nationwide but at least seven more Poppy Appeal organisers are needed in Northamptonshire to meet the ever-increasing demand.Poppy Appeal organisers help with ordering stock, distributing poppy boxes, liaising with local businesses, co-ordinating and recruiting collectors and recording funds. A former Stanwick parish councillor has been given a suspended jail sentence for making false tax credit claims totalling more than £10,000. Former Stanwick parish councillor Leisa Griffiths, 37, was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and a 12-month supervision order at Northampton Crown Court yesterday. Griffiths, of The Avenue, Stanwick, was prosecuted after an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs found she had failed to declare her husband of nine years, Kevin Griffiths, was living with her and their four children at their home address. Griffiths did not declare his income on her claims for tax credits, leading to her receiving £10,652 she was not entitled to.

A gang of four men robbed a 21-year-old man at about 10pm on Friday near the parade of shops in Goldings, Northampton. The man was assaulted after he initially refused to hand over cash when one of the attackers shouted: "Give me what you've got." During the assault, which left the victim shaken, one of the attackers pulled out a seven-inch knife. The victim handed over all the money from his wallet before he was told to walk away towards Blackthorn Road. When the victim glanced over his shoulder he saw one offender running towards Lings Way and then turning left towards Little Billing. The victim described all the attackers as black and muscular. They were all wearing black hoodies. Three wore blue jeans and one was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms. Three of the men were also wearing black bandanas over their faces.

A teenager was held down and his wallet stolen in a Northampton nightclub. The 18-year-old victim was surrounded by a group of thugs after he asked for a cigarette at about 2.55am on Saturday in the smoking area of Ghost Nightclub in Adelaide Place. One attacker tried unsuccessfully to grab the victim's packet of cigarettes, and when this failed, the group held him and stole his mobile phone, wallet containing money and bank cards by ripping one of his jean pockets. One of the eight to 10 attackers was described as black and wearing a pair of jeans, a blue T-shirt with a silver chain around his neck and had spiky hair. A second attacker was also black and wore jeans, a jacket and a cowboy or porkpie-style hat.

An attacker ran off after an 82-year-old woman screamed at him as he tried to grab her bag.The woman was returning to her home in Southampton Road, Far Cotton at about 11pm on Friday, August 28 when she was approached on her doorstep. The attacker tried to take her handbag but the victim, who was unhurt, screamed, prompting the man to run off in the direction of London Road. The attacker was black, aged 30 to 40, 5ft 5in and with short black hair.

English Defence League - A BNP Statement

The English Defence League has been proscribed as an organisation. This means it will be a disciplinary offence for British National Party members to associate or participate in any event or activity organised by the English Defence League or hold membership of the English Defence League.

The reasons for this proscription are that the English Defence League, through its activities, brings nationalist and patriotic politics into disrepute. If the English Defence League is not instigated by and its activities are not encouraged by the state (which it quite possibly is) then the track record of this organisation shows that it is run by people who will only bring discredit and probable arrest for anyone who attends its events.

The British National Party does not wish to be associated with the English Defence League in any way whatsoever.

I do not think there are any members of the party in Northamptonshire that are in any way associated With the EDL, but if there are and you want something more constructive to do on Saturday mornings come along and join our leafleting teams.

Parishioners of a village in Northamptonshire have joined forces to create an action group in protest at plans to build about 18,000 homes on rural land between Grange Park and Little Houghton. The development, which was published by West Northampton Joint Planning Unit in June, had already been recommended for refusal by Northamptonshire County Council after planners said they did not include vital infrastructure provisions, but residents affected by the proposals have now formed the Little Houghton Action Committee, which held its first meeting last week.In a statement, the protesters said the community was united against the proposals and would continue to fight against the development. They said opposition was "the unanimous voice of the meeting" and added: "The community of Little Houghton must protest in the strongest terms against these proposals. The proposals are part of a wider scheme to build thousands of homes around Northampton, Daventry and Towcester in order to meet Government expansion targets.

Northampton North Labour MP and NIMBY in Chief, Sally Keeble has voiced her opposition for once against the government. A campaign against proposals for 5,000 new homes in Southfields is gaining momentum, after Keeble wrote to the communities minister to ask for housing targets to be reassessed. Mrs Keeble held a public meeting with residents in Southfields, Thorpeville and Moulton at the weekend to hear their concerns about the plans, which would be part of a 40,000-home development around Northampton and Daventry. It is odd how Mrs Keeble is only interested in fighting the development that is going to be on her doorstep, she couldn't give two hoots about the wanton destruction of thousands of acres of greenbelt and prime farmland elsewhere in the county - shame on her.

Another public protest against the Northamptonshire West Joint Core Strategy proposals planned by the Mid Northamptonshire Parishes and Northants Residents' Alliance is due to take place at Wootton Community Centre tonight.

Weekend of Shame - Shame the Media Ignored It

Following on from my post the other day about the historic levels of crime at Notting Hill Crimefest, it appears that although crime was down on previous years, this year still had its problems. A 15-year-old boy was found with multiple stab wounds in Monmouth Road, he was taken to hospital where he is in a stable but serious condition. Chief Inspector Jo Edwards said 222 people were arrested down from 280 arrests last year. Most were held for public order and drugs offences. This year's arrest figure included 38 people detained at Victoria mainline station, where a bullet-proof vest and a knife were also seized. Police believed those arrested had travelled in specially to create disorder and arrested them "in order to prevent a breach of the peace".

Following the ban to stop the English Defence League (EDL) marching in Luton, which actually prohibited groups of 4 or more people congregating in one place, Luton town centre was awash with riot police and horses in the Bury Park area where the EDL had planned to march. Despite the ban on groups of youths gathering, over 200 Muslim youths managed to gather in one spot under the noses of the police. With no-one from the EDL to attack the the Muslims instead decided to throw bricks and other assorted missiles and pieces of street furniture at the riot police. I have to admit that the police, although antagonising the Muslims by their mere presence, did well not to inflame the situation by wading in with batons flying. However, as we have seen with recent Muslim protests in London and Birmingham, this appears to be par for the course. One only has to compare this with protests in recent years where the protesters are predominately British and white where there is no hesitation for the police to go steaming in, the Countryside Alliance protest being a prime example. One also has to ask the question that if a ban can be put on a group like the EDL from marching and protesting, why can the same not be done to stop the UAF from congregating and looking to cause trouble at the RWB or BNP conferences? I do not think the government could do more to convert people to the BNP if they tried. As long as they continue to pander to politically correct the more resentment and animosity will fester within the British people.

Where is NREC's Condemnation?

Identical stories appeared in both the Chronicle and Echo and ET on Friday regarding an altercation in Bridge Street. Northampton during the early hours of the morning.

The reports said:

Nine people were arrested in connection with a violent brawl in Bridge Street during the early hours of this morning. With the assistance of CCTV, the group were found in two vehicles in Victoria Promenade and taken to Campbell Square police station. Five men and a 17-year-old boy, all from Northampton, remain in custody - three of the men are aged 18, and two aged 21. Three men - two aged 19 and one aged 20, again all from Northampton - have been released without charge.

Reading the story the casual reader would automatically assume it was a drunken brawl among British youths, however, reports are coming in that this was a racist attack committed by a group of youths of Pakistani origin. Usually at the first sign of a racist attack the papers have the obligatory quotes from Anjona Roy and Paul Crofts...I wonder if they'll be saying anything in the week to condemn this violent brawl.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Well, it looks like we are going to be blessed with good weather for the last bank holiday weekend before Christmas. Whilst this nice of those of us that spend most of our time stuck in offices during the usual working week, it also means that this years Notting Hill Crimefest is set for a bumper year. Lets have a look at the history of the event. Having started as an indoor event in 1959, it first took to the streets, albeit illegally in 1964. It's initial years were definately rocky since the carnival did not have local authority permission and initial police involvement was aimed at preventing it taking place at all, which resulted in regular confrontation and riots. A change of policy came after a confrontation in 1987, which saw a change to allowing the Carnival to take place with police taking a more conciliatory approach. However, this did nothing to reduce the den of iniquity that the 'festival' had become. In the 2000 festival there were two murders, 19 stabbings, 69 serious assaults, 276 reported crimes and 129 arrests, the 12-hour gang rape of a 23-year-old woman. All this crime committed under the noses of in excess of 11,000 police. In 2007, two teenagers were shot and last year was marred by rioting right at the very end of the weekend, involving large numbers of youths, with approximately 500 arrested. Last years carnival cost the London tax-payer an estimated £6,000,000 to police.

To date Notting Hill Carnival has witnessed five murders:

30 August 1987 - Michael Augustine Galvin, 23, stallholder - stabbed.

26 August 1991 - Dr. Nicholas John Hanscomb, 38, bled to death after being stabbed in the thigh

28 August 2000 - Greg Fitzgerald Watson, 21, stabbed to death after an argument over food.

28 August 2000 - Abdul Munam Bhatti, 28, beaten to death in a racially motivated attack by a group of 40-50 youths.

30 August 2004 - Lee Christopher Surbaran, 27, shot by a gang using a machine pistol for "showing disrespect".

If the Notting Hill carnival were a celebration of Britishness, with a history like this it would have been banned. The media can say what they like about RWB, but at least it is always peaceful (inside at least) and has never, and will never have scenes resemling this.

It is interesting to see Anjona Roys latest blog seeing as she has been sooo busy trying to keep up with our activities, bless her cotton socks, she must be run ragged. She appears to know more about the local BNP than the BNP do. Understandably she is aware that the BNP is standing in the Daventry Drayton ward, but how she knows that the BNP are contesting Kettering Northfield when the nominations are not due in until the 4th September is beyond me. I certainly hope she has persuaded Paul Crofts to dig deep int NREC's war chest to waste some of more of their tax-payers grant to print up some worthless leaflets. Anjona was also startled to see this blog has started running Google Ads to earn revenue. She also seemed amazed that "one ad related to equality diversity training and another related to bespoke consultancy for equalities work in local government". Anjona might know a lot about wasting tax-payers money but she obviously knows nothing about how Google works. Google will target ads, to a specific degree, to your interests. I certainly have not seen any adverts relating to equality training. She also wonders what the companies listed would think if they knew the exposure that they were getting, well if Anjona cares to tell them they can block their adverts from appearing. I don't know what she expects to see advertised on this blog, maybe steel toe capped boots, knuckledusters and various Nazi related paraphernalia.

A new assistant chief constable has been appointed of Northamptonshire Police. Martin Jelley, aged 42, has been most recently a temporary assistant chief constable with Suffolk Constabulary, where he has served for the past four-and-a-half years.

The UK population grew by 408,000 in 2008 - the biggest increase for almost 50 years, according to the Office for National Statistics. The total number of people passed 61m for the first time, with changes in birth and death rates cited as a bigger cause of growth than immigration. What is conveniently missed in the headlines is where the increase in birthrate is coming from, it is sure not from the indigenous population. The UK population grew more in 2008 than at any time since Baby boom in 1962. There were 791,000 babies born in 2008, an increase of 33,000 on 2007, half of the increase were to women born overseas, but living in the UK. The population is now growing by 0.7% a year, more than double the rate in the 1990s and three times the level of the 1980s. Overall, 118,000 more people arrived in the UK than left in 2008 - the lowest level since EU enlargement. This figure of course does not take into account those that have arrived illegally. Labour MP Frank Field and Tory Nicholas Soames, members the Cross Party Group on Balanced Migration, issued a joint statement saying "Even at the present level of immigration, we are still on target for the UK's population to exceed 70 million within 25 years". meanwhile Donna Covey from the Refugee Council said the government had to keep the door open to genuine asylum seekers saying "We must make sure that the focus on strengthening Britain's borders does not prevent people fleeing for their lives from getting to safety here in the UK". Stupid woman. I'm sure even she can see that there are a whole host of safe countries between those countries that these so-called asylum seekers have fled and our over-populated country. Britain is Full, the sooner the world starts to get the message the better.

Can an Illegal Gypsy Camp be Racist?

An unpopular gypsy and traveller encampment on land off Milverton Crescent in Abington, Northampton, could be coming to an end. Residents say they have been suffering bouts of littering and fly-tipping every time travellers and gypsies set up camp on the land and it has now been suggested Northampton Borough Council (NBC) install bollards to prevent them entering the land.The potential of restricting access to the land will be the subject of a public meeting between councillors, NBC officers and the County Travellers Unit (CTU) on Thursday, September 3 at at Abington Vale Primary School from 7pm. As we have seen from first hand experience at this years RWB, if a council has the will to ban caravans they can do, so why are NBC and the CTU continually pussy-footing around with illegal traveller camps when they can be dealt with immediately. The only possible answer must be because they could be accused of racism. It can only be a racist act when travellers are dealt with any differently than those people that make up the majority of society. You can guarantee if Joe Bloggs from down the road decided to park his caravan on the same place it would be removed immediately, not in a few weeks time. Yet again we see minority groups getting away with things that most people cannot, so the law abiding majority have to suffer a form of reverse racism all because of a bunch inconsiderate gypsies. Mark McDonnell, of the CTU, said the unit removed an unauthorised camp at the site about three weeks ago. He said: “I think the meeting is to see if the residents want the council to put some bollards there. It’s an ongoing issue.” Mark McDonnell neds to grow a backbone and show some initiative, the residents are fed-up to the back teeth with their area being turned into a rubbish dump along with the associated health hazards.

Volunteers are wanted to take over paperwork so police officers can spend more time on the beat. The role would not involve interviewing the public or investigating crimes. The volunteers would be asked to help with administrative duties that officers are responsible for, such as updating victims of crimes about their cases or organising community panel meetings. Community and Partnerships Chief Inspector Nick Purdie said: "We hope that the roles will allow those people who want to help their local officers do so, while freeing up the time of officers to allow them to get out and about." The programme has started as a pilot project in Northampton but if there are enough volunteers the police will roll it out across the county. I'm all in favour of getting the police back out on to the street, but unsure if this is the best way to go about it.

Corby Council taxpayers look set to stump up £2.2m for new roads, paths and sewers on the Oakley Vale estate after the developers, Cofton, went into administration. The infrastructure around the new housing development ground to a halt after the slump in the housing market last year – with many footpaths, green spaces, sewers and roads left incomplete. The Council will then attempt to be recompensed by solicitors who were working for Cofton before they were put into administration. The Labour run council will be bending over backwards to please their masters in government as completion of the estate is key to meeting the Government's target to double the town's population by 2030.

Radioactive Waste Coming Down a Road Near You

Augean Plc who run a landfill site near Kings Cliffe in East Northamptonshire have applied to use the site to bury low level radioactive waste from decommissioned nuclear power stations. One wonders why Augean have chosen this sleepy corner of Northamptonshire for this activity...probably because they thought they could sneak in the application with no-one noticing (neither of Northamptonshire's two local papers have picked up on the story). Their application could be excused if there were a nuclear power facility in the county that was nearing the end of its life, but given that the nearest nuclear power station facing decommission is over 100 miles away it beggars belief. There is no railway line anywhere near the landfill site, which would mean nuclear waste having to travel on the counties main roads (A14, A45) before driving through sleepy East Northamptonshire villages to its destination. If this application is given the go ahead it is giving a green light for an accident to happen. It is not a case of NIMBYism, it is common sense, the shorter the distance radioactive nuclear waste needs to travel from its source the better. One hopes that Northamptonshire County Council has the common sense to refuse this application, but just in case feel free to voice your objections to them.

A comprehensive review of plans to build 60,000 homes in Northamptonshire has been ordered by the Government. The East Midlands Regional Assembly (EMRA) has started a partial review of its existing regional plan which will determine where more than 60,000 homes will be built. The plan, formally adopted in March, is the regional spatial strategy for the East Midlands which forms part of the development plan for every borough. The Government has asked EMRA to undertake the review, and their consultation sets out four different options of how the building could go ahead. There are plans to build more than 66,000 homes in north Northamptonshire between 2001 and 2026 with a similar number for the West of the county. The plan is for 52,100 homes to be built between 2001 and 2021 and a further 13,975 between 2021 and 2026. The consultation period will end on October 6 and is expected to be submitted to the EMRA in March next year.

Equality is a pie in the sky concept

We appear to have hit a raw nerve with Paul Crofts as he is a little flustered that we have called Dostiyo, an organisation that solely benefits Asians, as a racist organisation. You can read the original post from us here. In Part one of what promises to be a long winded rambling diatribe interspersed with Children's fairy tales, Cllr Crofts (Castle, Ind Soc) says:

"The first thing to say is that you will not hear this argument if funding is sought from disabled groups, or groups representing elderly people or indeed youth groups, although the same arguments could apply."

Well no. None of the three examples Mr Crofts has given are solely for the benefit of one ethnic minority.

He goes on to say that:

"The difference is that some white people don’t actually believe or recognise that BME groups have rights, or special or particular needs, or believe that public services might best, in certain demonstrable circumstances, be best delivered by such groups to members of their community."

If this is the case, I would have thought that these people would be aware of their particular needs and seen to it that they took out insurance at a younger age to pay for anything over and above the costs of what it takes to look after someone from another ethnic background. Mr Crofts is treading dangerously close to the racist path himself here by saying that services be best delivered by members of their own communities. Imagine if I went to hospital and demanded to be seen by a white doctor and had just white nurses, I'd be hauled before beak before I was out of my hospital bed. Discrimination only works one way in Mr Crofts eyes.

He then has the audacity to say:

"Diversity, and diverse ways of delivering services to diverse sections of our community, is not in opposition to having a unified sense of our common humanity or shared citizenship. Only those who want to see everyone become like “us” (White British, Anglo-Saxon or whatever) see a problem. The concepts of “Unity and Diversity”, or “One Citizenship; Many Peoples”, seems too complex for many to grasp. Is it that hard?"

Not hard at all Mr Crofts, it is a shame that you appear to be having difficulty understanding what you are saying given your own contradictions. If you want 'Unity and Diversity' or 'One Citizenship; Many Peoples', then how can it be right for one section of society to be treated more favourably than another?

Cllr Crofts calls for Equality and Diversity but cannot see that they are both different ends of the spectrum. If everyone is equal then there is no diversity. I have no problem with there being different people from different backgrounds as long as we are all treated the same. 'Positive' discrimination, which is rife, especially in public services, is still discrimination. People should be treated equally and the problem we have now is that there are so many laws and practices to give those from BME groups an unfair advantage over others that equality is just a pie in the sky concept.

Members of Northampton's Pakistani community have celebrated the 62nd Independence Day. One could ask the question that if they are so proud to be part of an independent nation, why they are here? There was also a special visit by Pakistani and Kashmiri dignitaries at a ceremony at Caroline Chisholm School. Borough councillor Ifty Choudary (Lab, St Crispin) said: "We heard readings and then the children performed drama, which they had been rehearsing for several weeks beforehand. It is very important for us to celebrate independence, because it highlights Pakistani culture and reminds people of the teachings of Islam. We talk about how Pakistan has changed since it has been granted independence, and what it was like before August 14, 1947, but we also talk about how much there still is to do and what the future is for Pakistan." How on earth can the Northamptonshire Racial Equality Council sit there in total silence over the fact that school children have been forced to celebrate the Asian sub-continent's equivalent of the Holocaust. The bloody persecution of hundreds of thousands of Hindu's and Sikh's during the Partition of India which led to Pakistan becoming a Muslim State. The warning signs are written are on the walls of history, it's time people started to become aware what is heading this way.

The government's relentless drive to concrete over the Northamptonshire countryside has taken a hit over the past year due to good old fashioned market forces. New Government figures show that the number of new homes being built in the region has declined by almost a third in the last year. New home starts in the East Midlands between April and June this year were 1,830 compared to 2,550 for the same period last year – a drop of almost 30 per cent. The figures are included as part of a report which claimed the number of new properties being built jumped by 63 per cent nationally during the second quarter, prompting suggestions the housebuilding industry was starting to show signs of revival. While there has been a rise in the past three months, compared to the same period last year, the figures are significantly down. Whilst there is demand for social housing with an estimated 136,550 households on the East Midlands' council housing waiting lists, the private sector is still very flat.

An amateur dramatics society has been told to take down boards advertising its latest production because the council says the event doesn't have an "educational, cultural, social or recreational character". The Nomads, an amateur dramatic group that rehearses in Burton Latimer, was given 48 hours to take down boards advertising its latest production by Kettering Council, despite them being placed at Focus DIY Store in Kettering Business Park with the store manager's permission. A letter from the council said the boards "were not advertising an event of educational, cultural, social or recreational character, or in connection with an event or local activity of such a character, and that the event was being promoted for commercial purposes." Mark Walker, director of the 'Into The Woods' production that will take place next month at the Masque Theatre, said: "If a small local amateur theatrical production is not an educational, cultural or social event, then we would ask the council what they think it is." I'm sure Kettering Council would have no such qualms had the boards been advertising the local Mela or Gay Pride carnival.

The new £2m Hindu temple in Wellingborough is set to be officially opened this weekend. The temple has been built on a site at the junction of Mill Road and Cannon Street in Wellingborough. Work began on the elaborate new building in May last year and replaces the previous inconspicuous place of worship which had been used for 30 years. Some parts of the project still needed to be completed like installation of elaborate domes imported especially from India, but this will take place after this weekend's festivities. The weekend's events will begin with a town centre parade of statues, which are images of God, and on Sunday these images will be installed. Wellingborough's Hindu population was 2,427 at the time of the 2001 census but is now almost certain to be nearer 5,000. The local BNP respect that Hinduism is a peaceful religion and that quite a few of the towns Hindu community have voted for the BNP in recent elections.

Illegal immigrant steals 18K of tax payers money

Ida Quartey, 27, A Ghanian woman studying at the University of Northampton has been sentenced to a year in prison after falsely claiming £18,000 of taxpayers' money to train to be a nurse.Quartey pleaded guilty to using a false visa and fake Home Office letter to get a place on a course that was open only to British citizens and people in the UK without any immigration restrictions. She used the false documents to make staff at the University of Northampton believe she had been given indefinite leave to remain in the country, when she had not. Quartey, of Austrey Avenue, Beeston, Nottinghamshire, also admitted obtaining money by deception after she was given an £18,000 NHS bursary for the course, which started in February 2006. She was caught in May this year when a recruitment agency she had applied to for a job checked her details with the Home Office. Quartey had produced a Ghanaian passport which stated she could stay in the UK indefinitely when in fact her visa had expired. The court heard Quartey had confessed when she was arrested by police – but had refused to reveal how she got the documents. Emma Coverley, defending Quartey, said she had applied for the bursary only because she had to under the conditions of the course. Now you would have thought that someone that entrered the country illegally under false documentation, stolen 18,000 from the tax-payer and then refused to tell the authorities where the false documentation was obtained when caught would have also been sentenced for deportation once the their years' imprisonment had been served, but it appears not. In fact Quartey's theft from the public purse will be much higher as we no doubt paid for her defence at the court case as well. Quartey is a liar and a cheat and I am sure her name will be in the news again before too soon. No doubt on her release she'll be given a job in the NHS.

Little Boxes on the Hillside

The news of future growth in the west of the county has been in the news quite a bit lately, but lets not forget that the north and east has it's impending Armageddon. Four options for the future growth of north Northamptonshire, which has to accommodate 66,000 new homes by 2026, are going before councillors. Regional plans for the areas covering Corby, Wellingborough and Kettering go before borough councillors next week. The first two options would see expansion concentrated in the towns. A third option calls for housing in the corridors between the towns and a fourth calls for other smaller communities to be expanded as well. A report to Corby Borough Council's local plan committee, which meets on 26 August, details the following options being proposed by the East Midlands Regional Assembly:

Option One: Focuses development at the growth towns of Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough
Option Two: Focuses most new development and regeneration on one or two of the growth towns of Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough
Option Three: Focuses additional development into the areas between the growth towns(this would be an act of criminal destruction)
Option Four: Focus growth more evenly across the area with development not just in the three growth towns, but also in Oundle, Desborough, Rothwell, Burton Latimer, Irthlingborough, Higham Ferrers, Rushden, Raunds and Thrapston.

A report to the council prefers Option Two, over Option One, as officers say it is a continuation of the present strategy - with a higher proportion of homes being built in Corby. The report says Option Three should be rejected as the spread of development would mean that individual towns would lose their identity. Option Four would lead to transport problems with an increase in commuting, says the report. The consultation period for the plan ends in October. A draft plan will then be put forward and examined at a public inquiry. Under the BNP there would be none of the four options to choose from with building plans taken away from central government and placed back in the hands of locals, focusing on organic growth rather than forced house building that no-one wants.

A dramatic increase in the number of children in care could leave the county council with an extra £3.5m bill. Northamptonshire County Council has been forced to look at making savings in its budget after seeing an increase in children in its care in the past two years. The number of looked after children rose from 564 in March 2007 to 675 in May this year and the number of youngsters known to social services and receiving support has seen a steep rise from 3,350 to 4,100. Many of these new children in care are minors that have entered the country illegally.

Tom Price, the Socialist Alternative candidate's Agent, looks like he is none other than the self-confessed marxist and (former?) Chairman of the Daventry Constituency Labour party who stood in Weedon Ward in 2004. I do not know whether Tom Price is still anything to do with Labour or not, but his twitter profile anti-Brown rants would suggest not. Paul Corazzo, the idiotic Kettering Borough Councillor and Prospective Parliamentary Labour Party candidate for Daventry might like to ammend his profile on the Labour party page as Tom Price is making him look even more of an idiot. According to their accounts on the Electoral Commissions website, the Socialist Alternative party, led by ex-Labour MP and well known Trotskyite Dave Nellist, had just £92 to their name at the end of the 2008 accounting period. Obviously Nellist has a bit of an identity crisis as he was also No.2 on the West Midlands Euro list for the failed No to the EU – Yes to Democracy Party who received a derisory 0.9% of the vote. Steve Tubb the Independent Candidate is currently an Independent Daventry Town Councillor for Hill Ward.

Youth unemployment has risen to its highest level in Northampton for 15 years, with a staggering one in three aged 18 to 24 claiming Jobseeker's Allowance. A survey by The Prince’s Trust youth charity showed unemployment in the borough for young people leapt by more than 90 per cent in the past year to 1,915, the largest increase since 1994. In Northamptonshire about 8,400 students will leave school this summer after collecting their A-level results tomorrow and GCSEs next week. The report warns that the prospects for this year’s school-leavers will remain poor as one in five young people receiving their GCSEs across the country could be on the dole by the time they are 21. Government figures revealed last week showed the number of 16 to 24-year-olds in the East Midlands not in education, employment or training had increased by more than a fifth over the past eight years to 69,000. Minister for Employment, Jim Knight, lied when he said: “We won’t abandon an entire generation of young people to long-term unemployment. That’s why we’ve introduced not only the Future Jobs Fund but also the Young Person's Guarantee, which will offer people between 18 and 24 either a job or training.” The true reason for why the Future Jobs Fund was set up can be read here.

Lib Dem leader of Northampton Borough Council, Tony Woods (St Davids), could be facing a six month suspension over what has become known as 'Astragate'. The leader of Northampton Borough Council repeatedly assured the authority's chief executive he would move his untaxed car he parked under the Guildhall but failed to take action for two months after this. Councillor Tony Woods also received a fixed penalty notice for failing to declare his Vauxhall Astra off-road during the three-and-a-half-month period it was parked in his space in the Guildhall's car park. An independent investigator was appointed to examine complaints made about Councillor Woods' conduct. However, the investigator's view is not the position of Northampton Borough Council and a separate hearing will now be held (I hope the Lib Dems are keeping a record of how much this is costing the tax payer as I'm sure there will be an FOI request going in at some point!). Police overtime and more houses over time

Proof has come, as if any were needed, that Northamptonshire Police are seriously under-staffed. Figures reveal that Northamptonshire's police force has been named in the top five forces in the country for the number of constables earning more than £40,000 because of overtime pay. Forces were ranked by the percentage of PCs earning more than £40,000, with the Metropolitan Police coming out top with 39 per cent and Northamptonshire ranking fifth with 25 per cent. Northamptonshire Police's Assistant Chief Constable Alan Featherstone said the force had no formal minimum or maximum level set for the amount of overtime officers did. Neil Goosey, secretary of Northamptonshire Police Federation, said the figures showed officers in the county were committed to serving the public but they also raised questions about staffing levels and the potential for officers to burn out. Quite a few of the hours racked up in overtime was made up when a contingent of Northamptonshire Police were sent to assist the Metropolitan police in their policing of the G8 protests earlier this year, where they probably came face to face with some of the anarcho-left wing student rent-a-mob that terrorised little old-ladies and children in Derbyshire last weekend, which goes to show these idiots will go anywhere for a punch-up and a bit of trouble..and the left have the nerve to call the BNP a bunch of soccer hooligans! Shame on them.

An exhibition of plans to build 40,000 homes around Northampton, Daventry and Towcester is to tour the county during the six-week consultation period to gauge public feedback (as if it isn't known already!). The controversial plans include building more than 19,500 homes in Northampton North, South, West and South East, which are not wanted and not needed. The plans were published by the West Northampton Joint Planning Unit (JPU) at the end of June as part of an aim to meet a Government expansion target of building 62,000 homes in West Northamptonshire by 2026. Cogenhoe and Whiston Parish Council has joined the fight against the plans and will hold a meeting to discuss them tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7.30pm at Cogenhoe Village Hall. Parish councillor Geoff Carverhill said: "Cogenhoe and Whiston Parish Council is particularly concerned about plans for a major new trunk road that will run from the A45 at Billing to Brafield and join up with the M1. Other concerns are that the plan is deficient in having no infrastructure provision or flood risk assessments. A positive and unanimous approach to the flawed nature of the document has been highlighted by parishes all over the county." In the exhibition literature, the JPU sets out its vision for Northampton as a "great riverside city, the economic driver and culture centre of the sub-region" (where do they dream this waffle up?). The future of Daventry is described as being "invigorated as a historic market town with a sound commercial core" (which it is already without ruining the surrounding countryside). East Midlands Tory MEP is in the Wrong Party

Roger Helmer, Tory MEP for East Midlands had a letter in the Northampton Chronicle and Echo today in which he blatantly attempts to mislead the electorate about Conservative policies with his own personal views. Responding to complaints that politicians are "ignorant bigots" for allowing mass immigration he said: "First of all, let's be clear that it was this Labour Government that allowed immigration to get to exceptional levels. They say that Tony Blair never liked the English working class, so he decided to import a new one. Moderate immigration may be good for our economy, but beyond a certain level it puts intolerable strain on labour markets, and on education, health and social services. Labour has ignored this problem. Conservatives have spoken out against it, and are committed to tighter limits on non-EU citizens. Which brings me to my second point: at the moment under EU law we have no way of limiting immigration from EU countries (though it is fair to say that many EU immigrants, faced with the recession, are going home voluntarily). My own personal view is that we can no longer tolerate such an open-door policy, and I would like to see a future Conservative Government bringing back our own national controls on immigration, as we are pledged to bring back national control over employment and social policy." Mr Helmer knows better than most, that a Conservative government cannot and will not do diddly squat about immigration from the EU (which will dramatically increase when Turkey is allowed entry), unless they withdraw from the EU. The posturing from Mr Helmer is nothing more than a vote-grubbing exercise in the run up to the general election. Let us not forget that immigration was out of control under the Conservatives before Labour even came to power. If Mr Helmer wants to bring back our own national controls on immigration then he is yet another Conservative that is in the wrong party. If the man cannot even be honest with himself, is he going to be honest with the electorate?

Following on from the County Council having to increase their debt, District and Borough councils have now voiced concerns over their finances. A double whammy of reduced interest rates and income from developers alongside a growing need for services is costing councils millions of pounds. East Northamptonshire Council has said it was predicting it would lose £1.3m over four years while Wellingborough Council is predicting a loss of £5.75m within the current year while Corby Council said the recession was costing around £250,000 in lost income (not including what they are going to have to shell out in compensation). Kettering Council, who are making a habit of not releasing financial figures to the public did not reveal its losses but admitted income was falling in particular areas, including planning fees.

The number of "unlawful" class sizes in primary schools across Northamptonshire has risen in the past year, despite a decline everywhere else in the region. In the school year 2008/09, nearly 100 pupils were being taught in unlawfully large class sizes – the maximum limit set by the Government is 30 pupils to a class. This was a big increase on the previous school year when there were 63 children in the county being taught in larger- than-normal class sizes. Northamptonshire has the second highest number of overcrowded classes in primary schools after Leicestershire.

Demonstrators waved placards in Northampton town centre in a protest to raise awareness of plans to build 18,000 homes between Grange Park, Wootton and Little Houghton. About 50 protesters, including residents' associations and the Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for South Northamptonshire, Andrea Leadsom, gathered in the Market Square on Saturday. The demonstration coincided with the West Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit (JPU) holding an exhibition about the plans, which involve a total of 40,000 homes to be built around Northampton. the JPU is yet another unelected quango (albeit created by elected councillors who receive more public money for being being a member) which includes the leaders of Northampton Borough Council, South Northamptonshire Council and Daventry District Council, published plans showing where more than 40,000 new homes could be built to meet Government expansion targets. it is a pity that Sally Keeble, who has been more than vociferous to building around her own home did not turn up to show support for those in the South of the County...what a hypocrite.

The Hunters and the Hunted

Sally Keeble, (Lab, Northampton North) has conducted a postal survey to discover the views of some of her constituents over plans for a development on the edge of the town. About 220 residents of Southfields and Billing Lane were asked what they thought about plans for development of the area, Moulton and Overstone, which would see 5,000 homes, industry, new roads and a Moulton bypass built. About 50% of the 67 that bothered to reply responded with what was described as "wholesale opposition" to the plans. Only three people were in favour of the proposals. I wonder if Sally Keeble pointed out that if it were not for her own governments house building programme these houses would not even be on the agenda. I suspect not.

Northamptonshire police is failing to beat the war on bureaucracy, it has been claimed after figures revealed it spent £150,000 on stationery last year. The bill included £32,000 on paper alone and the purchase of 29,196 pens. Roy Woolliscroft, chairman of Northamptonshire Police Federation, said: "Even though we are supposed to be cutting back on bureaucracy, officers still fill out forms simply because they have to, not because they will be of any use." He said officers still spent too much time filling in unnecessary forms, and added: "I am talking about a national problem which isn't specific to Northamptonshire. At the moment we are playing around at the edges of the problem and it isn't making any difference. The situation certainly hasn't improved in recent years." The force ploughed through 4.06 million sheets of paper, costing £31,880. However, Suffolk Constabulary paid £35,000 for almost double the amount of paper that Northamptonshire received – 7.6 million sheets. It looks like the tax-payer of Northamptonshire is being short-changed again...can someone fill in a form to see if they can change supplier...or will it make too much paperwork?

The level of debt owed by Northamptonshire County Council will soar by £200 million during the financial year and take the authority within a fraction of its borrowing limit as it struggles to fund capital projects amid the collapse in land values. By the end of June, the county council owed £426.6 million in borrowed cash, but this figure is forecast to increase by more than £200 million to £629.4 million by the end of March 2010, with the money earmarked for developments such as work on Caroline Chisolm School, at a cost of £3.5 million, and £1m on Corby Library. The council took the step of borrowing the money after the collapse of the property market. This makes the decision by Northamptonshire County Council to give funds to Dostiyo, and racist organisation that is solely for Asians, even more amazing.

The mixed rabble of UAF (Oh, the irony, I wish these guys would try looking up the definition of the word fascist), misguided union members and unwashed students at Codnor and Denby against the RWB on Saturday succeeded in scoring yet another massive own goal, While families enjoyed themselves insode the festival, a thousand or so idiots set about calling locals nazis, racists and anything else that had been pre-programmed into their brainwashed heads before smashing locals cars up. If they wanted to alienate rural Derbyshire against them and into the arms of the BNP they have done a fantastic job with new members from the area joining up and attending the festival on the Sunday! They just do not consider the consequences of their own actions...or maybe this is what they laughingly refer to as community cohesion? As for those saying it was a poor turnout, the Northants stand did a roaring trade.

Get involved in your local community

The BNP needs to be involved in communities at grass roots level, I have mentioned before about applying to stand for election to your local parish Council, or in some instances where local people are not interested in their local area it may be possible to get co-opted without being elected. Another way of becoming a pillar of your local community is to become a school governor. There are currently vacancies at schools across the county for governors, very few have their full quota. A glance down the list of governors at most schools you will see local councillors and ex-candidates from other political parties. To find your nearest School and to see if they have any vacancies click here. Once you have found a school with a vacancy make an application, which can be done following the instructions here.

Northamptonshire County Council are setting up of a youth academy and will be appointing a young leader for Northamptonshire. The youth academy will involve the recruitment each year of 200 young people from across the county who will take part in 'exciting and challenging experiences'. For taking part the young people will be given an award and academy membership. The academy initiatives and membership will promote team working, positive role models and behaviours and personal safety. The young leader initiative will involve the countywide election of a young leader (aged 16 – 19) who will be provided with professional support to speak up for young people, take part in local political processes and provide a high-profile role model for young people in Northamptonshire. I can think of one young man that would be ideally suited for the post.

A swastika, some racist graffiti and the initials NF (National Front) were daubed on the side of the Gurdwara and Ramgarhia Sikh temple in Crave Street, Northampton between Tuesday Night and Wednesday morning. According to the Chonicle and Echo's report the graffiti made offensive comments to the Sikh community. The West Northamptonshire British National Party condemns the graffiti with a spokesman saying "We have good relations with the local Sikh's and had a Sikh speaker at one of our meetings in Northampton earlier this year." The liberal-left purposely make no distinction between the BNP and the NF so we can all be tarred with the same brush, whereas in fact there is a bigger difference between the two than there is between the Labour and Conservative Parties. The Chronicle and Echo had comments from the usual suspects and as expected there was no comment of the NF in particular, just a group they like to term the 'far-right'. Anjona Roy, chief executive of the NREC, said: "The year before last, this would have been completely unheard of. But we are hearing of this type of racist graffiti, which has political far-Right undertones, more and more often.This is a deliberate act, designed to intimidate not just the members of the Sikh community but also other communities living in what is a very diverse part of town. There is a synagogue and Muslim prayer centres within a stone's throw of the Gurdwara, and this graffiti will have an enormous impact on all of them." Meanwhile Paul Crofts, of Northamptonshire West Hate Incident Forum, told the Chronicle & Echo: "In my view, this is a form of terrorism, designed purely to intimidate people of all religions and those of no religion. To paint a swastika on a place of worship is despicable." Paul Crofts may like to reconsider his words as Swastikas are often painted on Hindu temples as it is one of the 108 symbols of the deity Vishnu, while in Jainism it is given even more prominence as it is the symbol of the seventh saint. Even one of the most peaceful religions in the world, Buddhism, has used the swastika in the past. The graffiti has appeared days after what was believed to be a racist fight nearby on The Racecourse.The NF appear to have been dormant in the town since 2005 when a planned march through the town was cancelled.

Northamptonshire County Council Funds Racist Organisation

A £1.3m cash injection is set to help adults with social care needs, Northamptonshire County Council said.The money, agreed by the county council's cabinet at a meeting on Tuesday, will help fund eight new pilot projects focusing on extra prevention and early intervention services for adults with social care needs. I cannot find any documentation on the county council website where it says which project is receiving how much money, as one of the projects, as far as I am concerned, is racist. One of the benefactors is Dostiyo, which an Asian Women’s Mental Health Project. According to the MultiKulti website Dostiyo offers advice for Asian women on a range of issues, including benefits, debt, housing, domestic violence, disability, immigration, drug and alcohol misuse. It also offers advocacy, befriending and counselling services and also runs an Asian men's social and sports club. So there you have it, the County Council are falling foul of their own code of conduct by promoting division within communities by giving a rather large sum of money to a group that is solely for the benefit of Asians. Whilst I have no objection to money being given to mental health projects, why should the Asian Community benefit from extra funds in addition to those that are designated to help people of all ethnicity's? So can we expect to hear calls of disgust from the so-called promoters of racial equality in the county? Of course not. Anjona Roy, Chair of Northamptonshire Racial Equality Council, was - and may still be - involved with Dostiyo. This is clearly racism and I urge all of you to write to Northamptonshire County Council to register your disgust at this funding to a blatantly racist organisation.

Complaints about drug abuse, anti-social behaviour and intimidation in a block of flats in Northampton have prompted officers to launch regular meetings with residents to try to stamp out crime. The Woodstock apartments on the corner of Billing Road and Cliftonville has been blighted by a range of problems in recent months, mostly caused by visitors to the building and not tenants. Members of the St Crispin safer community team had successfully applied for some residents to be placed under Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (Asbos) in the past to prevent them from having guests, but now the team will be running surgeries inside the block to encourage people to come forward if they have any concerns. One 20-year-old resident, who asked not to be named, said he had seen people injecting drugs in the corridors and using stairwells as toilets. This is what decades of liberal left thinking and open borders has done to our once proud town.

Tory MEP for East midlands, Roger Helmer, has been trying to dig himself out of a hole over comments he made on his blog saying that he believed homophobia did not exist. he said "'homophobia' is not so much a word as a political agenda" which "describes something which simply does not exist". Speaking to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo Mr Helmer, a member of the right-wing Freedom Association, said he wanted to clarify his remarks and claimed the publicity was created to embarrass the Tories in Europe. He said: "I was not claiming that there is no discrimination, and that homosexuals do not suffer violence and prejudice from people because sadly, we all know that is not the case. What I was saying was that the word homophobia has no meaning. I have never met anyone with an irrational fear of homosexuals, it is just a propagandist word created by the militant gay rights lobby." Paul Crofts, chairman of the Northamptonshire West Hate Incident Forum, Financial Director of Northamptonshire Racial Equality Council, Independent Socialist Councillor, Castle, Wellingborough and equality advisor for the University of Northampton (does he do a proper job? - ed), said Mr Helmer's views would be deeply offensive to victims of homophobic crimes. He said: "To many gay and lesbian people in this county, homophobia is real and it has very real consequences. We have dealt with incidents of violence against people which have been motivated purely by the fact they are homosexual. For Mr Helmer this may be a matter of semantics, but for gay and lesbian people this is a real issue. I would have thought someone like him, who is a member of the European Parliament and is in an influential position, would realise he has a responsibility to condemn homophobia." Paul Crofts may like to consider that under Sharia Law, which he is helping to facilitate, Homosexuality would not be tolerated at all. Besides, since when has Paul Crofts cared for the sensitivities of others, after all he quite happily labels people he does not know as facsists and nazis without a care, or knowing what horrors their families went through in the war.

Tony Woods, leader of Northampton Borough Council has issued an official apology for leaving his untaxed car in the basement of the Guildhall car park for more than three months. In a letter sent to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo he said: "To cut a long story short, I got it wrong. I should not have parked my car on council property without an MOT or up-to-date tax disc. I've said it before and I'll say it again: politicians – from local councillors to MPs and Ministers – are in a position of trust and should have the decency to say 'sorry' when they make mistakes. To that end, it's vitally important I say what needs to be said and allow people to decide for themselves." Members of a council standards committee will now decide what action should be taken against the authority's leader.

Ramesh Kandi, 33, who has been held in custody since his arrested following the alleged attack in Abington Park on the evening of Tuesday, July 7 appeared at Northampton Crown Court yesterday where, through a Tamil interpreter, he spoke only to confirm his name during a five-minute preliminary hearing. No indication was made as to how he will plead to the single allegation of attempted rape as the prosecution papers have yet to be served upon his solicitors. Kandi, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody until the end of September.

Derbyshire Police have at last placed Restrictions on any protests planned in the vicinity, although to my eyes, they look very similar to last year when a group of protesters from Searchlight, UAF and ANTIFA caused havoc and misey for the villagers of Denby and Codnor by rioting, blocking roads and setting fire to tyres which resulted in 33 arrests of the left wing rabble, none of whom appear to have been charged. Again this year a number of groups have indicated their plans to stage a protest in response to the event on Saturday. Section 14 of the Public Order act has been utilised to identify Codnor Market Place as a designated area for public assembly prior to and following the procession between 9am and 5pm for all those attending the demonstration. Section 12 of the act has been used to impose conditions on the public procession, which will take place between Codnor Market Place and Codnor Denby Lane. The protestors will set off from the Market Place no earlier than 11.30am. They will follow a route along the A6007 Heanor Road, Codnor to its junction with Codnor Denby Lane where it will turn right into Codnor Denby Lane adjacent to Crosshill Church. It will then continue along Codnor Denby Lane, to the area identified as the designated protest point, where it will halt. At this point, a further public assembly may take place until 2pm, at which time the procession will turn around and return to the Market Place in Codnor via the same route. Those who have participated in the public procession may then rejoin the designated protest point at Codnor Market Place for the remainder of the period specified in the notice. The procession will be marshaled by the event organisers (who I hope manage to keep their people under control this time) and accompanied by police officers. Finally section 14a of the act has been invoked to prevent trespassory assemblies around the area known as The Bungalow in Codnor Denby Lane and the adjacent lands to an area that does not exceed a radius of five miles. This part of the act prevents anyone trespassing on private land because of police fears that there may be disruption to the event and disruption caused to the community. All the orders run from 9am on Friday, August 14, to 4pm on Sunday, August 16. Anyone not abiding by the legislation may be liable to arrest....and hopefully prosecution this time.

Policing of last years event cost Derbyshire constabulary in the region of £500,000. Two years ago when there was just one protester at RWB the policing cost was negligible and passed by with no trouble or inconvenience to the locals. The locals know who is causing the trouble and inconvenience and they know it is not the BNP.

BNP Condemn Kettering Attack

The Northamptonshire East BNP thoroughly condemn an attack on two Asians in the early hours of Sunday morning in Dalkeith Place, Kettering. The two Asian men are said to have been subjected to racist abuse by a group of four white men. This happened on a number of occasions and on the last occasion, the offenders attacked the two victims, punching and kicking them repeatedly. One of the men, a 31-year-old, received minor injuries. Two offenders were both described as white, aged about 25, 5ft 8ins tall, with short black hair and of slim build. The descriptions do not match any members in the town. There has been a recent spate of racist incidents in Kettering, again the BNP call for this to stop, there absolutely nothing that can justify these attacks. The actions of a few mindless idiots will reflect badly on the BNP as people will associate these attacks with us regardless of whether they had anything to do with us or not. If anyone knows who these people, or the ones that had anything to do with the racist graffiti last week are, please have a word. There is a by-election that will be called in Kettering in the not too distant future and the more of these incidents that occur the less likelihood there is of the BNP contesting the seat.

An official investigation has found Northampton Borough Council leader Tony Woods broke rules governing the behaviour of councillors by leaving his untaxed car in a town centre car park for more than three months.In November Councillor Woods (Lib Dem, St Davids) left his 12-year-old Vauxhall Astra in the Guildhall's underground car park shortly before the vehicle's tax disc expired in October. The vehicle remained in the council facility until the middle of January and this week, it has been revealed an independent investigator said the council leader's actions broke official 'codes of conduct' for councillors. At the height of the affair, which became known in some quarters as "Astra-gate", Conservative councillors presented Councillor Woods with a parking ticket for £1,190 – the amount they claimed it would cost residents to park in the town centre for three months. Official complaints were also lodged by former borough council leader, John Dickie, and another former county councillor. The issue will be discussed by a council committee next week which will decide if the details of the official investigation, which so far have not been made public, should be revealed and how the matter should be taken forward. The leader of the opposition at the Guildhall, Councillor David Palethorpe (Con, Billing) has led calls for the documents to be published. As far as I am concerned, the answer is simple. Tony Wood broke rules governing the behaviour of councillors and he should therefore resign or be forced from office.

Police executed a misuse of drugs warrant in Rushden on Saturday and discovered more than 60 cannabis plants. No one was arrested at the house but officers are continuing with the investigation into the factory and what was found there. Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Firdale Avenue area of Rushden in recent months.

Police are appealing for witnesses after graffiti of a 'racist nature' was sprayed on the doors of a business in Havelock Street, Kettering. This happened overnight between Wednesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 6. The graffiti has now been cleared away. There was no mention in the report regarding which ethnicity was targeted. Whilst many of us are frustrated by the levels of immigration into the country there is no need to target individual people or businesses, it is the politicians that have allowed the country to get into the mess it is in that should be the focus of the public's anger. It is highly unlikely that any member of the BNP would have done this, it is more than likely to be a misguided youth that does not realise the implications of what they are doing. Havelock Street is in All Saints ward, next door to Northfield which was the ward served by Councillor Gil Rennie who passed away earlier this week.

The legal bill for the Corby toxic waste case could top £10m. Solicitors for the claimants have said the likely bill for the damages claims and legal costs will be in eight figures, with any future compensation payouts on top of that figure. The bill so far includes £1.9m fees for Corby Council's lawyers and £4.7m for the claimants' legal costs. On top of this could be an extra £3.5m for future legal costs, then up to an estimated £3m in compensation. A judge will decide the final amount of costs to be awarded at a hearing this month, and the council will have to pay them within 42 days. Corby Council is expected to take out a loan for some of the cash at the end of the month to pay the first instalment of the costs. The council failed to take out insurance at the time of the clean-up, when a previous administration was in charge of the council. A full council meeting will be held on August 18 at 6pm at the Best Western Rockingham Forest Hotel to determine whether to appeal against the ruling.

Plans to crack down on gangs of youths hanging around a park area have been welcomed by residents.People living on the Grange estate in Kettering have said that something needs to be done to stop trouble makers on the estate. One resident, who lives in Charlotte Place who asked to remain anonymous, said: "There is a problem around here. We get groups of teenagers hanging around in the park of an evening, after about 10pm. The police don't really do enough about it, you see them around but they come at the wrong times, there's not a problem at 11 in the morning." Officers have previously targeted troublemakers and drug users at the park.

Nearly £1 million was paid out in car parking fees by patients and staff at Northampton General Hospital during 2007/08, in a system condemned as "a tax on the sick". According to the data, Northampton General Hospital received £832,278 from patients and £141,883 from members of staff in car parking fees. A spokesman for the hospital said that, according to their own figures in 2008/09, the parking charges for patients, visitors and staff brought in approximately £975,000. Out of this, £720,000 was put back into security, CCTV, maintenance and lease costs and the surplus went into healthcare provision.

Three Developments and a VOO

One million pounds has been pledged to kick start work on improving Wellingborough town centre but council officials are disappointed the amount is less than previously promised. Wellingborough town centre improvements were thrown into chaos in June after the Learning and Skills Council announced money would be available for Tresham College to redevelop its Corby campus but not for other projects, which included a new Wellingborough campus. The relocation of Tresham, in Church Street, was key to Wellingborough's town centre plans. Council officials voiced concerns that growth funding for the town centre could be lost because the college had not received funding from the LSC. The cash from north Northamptonshire's Growth Fund programme, which was earmarked for work to redevelop the town centre, was re-allocated, but now £1m from the fund is to be put aside for the High Street. The cash will be allocated to Wellingborough Council to start work on the first phase of its plan. The £1m allocation is set to be approved by the county council cabinet on Tuesday.

A vision of how Northampton town centre could develop over the next 17 years has been described as "ambitious but exciting" by Northampton Borough Council's cabinet member for regeneration, Councillor Richard Church (Lib Dem, Kingsthorpe). Highlights of the scheme include the development of new shopping areas on the outskirts of the town centre, an improved railway station and the possible reintroduction of buses to Abington Street. Mr Church said: "Because if Northampton is to become a successful city in the future, it has to have a vibrant heart." Makes one wonder what planet Cllr Church is on when the Lib Dems have been systematically ripping the heart out of the town since they took office in May 2007. The council has said the plan for the future of the town is needed because housing expansion projects in the area will push the town's population up from 200,000 to 300,000 over the next two decades. Where are these people going to come from? I know, you know but does the general public realise what is about to happen to Northampton? The plans are due to be submitted to the Government for approval next year but, before then, the council will put the plans on show to the public in the Market Square from August 13 to 15, Weston Favell Shopping Centre on August 21 and Kingsthorpe Library from September 1 to 2.

Official plans to redevelop Northampton Town Football Club's stadium will be submitted in the autumn after councillors last night gave their backing to a scheme designed to improve the Sixfields area. The move came after five years of talks between Northampton Borough Council and the football club over the future of Sixfields. The football club originally hoped to build a mini-shopping centre on land it controls around the stadium (bought for peanuts from the council) and use money from the scheme to finance the stadium expansion. But because of concerns about the impact the development could have on the town centre, it is believed the development would now mainly consist of flats and houses. Now, i don't know if you know the history of the area, but Sixfields is build on what was once a rubbish tip. One only has to look at the subsidence in the roads in the area since it was built that the land is not stable. Anyone buying a house or a flat on the land will be lucky if they can get a mortgage.

New powers which will see violent offenders given ASBO-style restrictions on their freedom have been welcomed by Northamptonshire Police. The violent offender order (VOO) aimed at "disrupting patterns of offending behaviour" came into force yesterday. It will mean that offenders can still be monitored even after completing their court punishments in jail or on probation. Courts in England and Wales can now insist thugs stay away from named places, events or people for between two and five years under the new VOO powers. This to me raises concerns that violent offenders will be released from prison early to make room for non-violent offenders. Just because the police can keep tabs on them does not mean that they will not re-offend. If we do not have enough room in our prisons build some more. If the government wants to kick start employment in the construction industry where is a better place to start.

Kettering Councillor Gil Rennie Dies

Councillor Gil Rennie, who was a well respected local councillor, has passed away. The local BNP group send their sympathies to Cllr Rennies family. Councillor Rennie was a member of the Kettering Borough Council for 26 years representing the St Andrews Ward from 1983 to 2007 and the Northfield Ward from 2007 onwards.

2 Elections Called For Daventry District Council

Two by-elections for a Daventry district council in Northamptonshire will take place on 10 September. The Drayton seat on Daventry District Council became vacant when Conservative member Terry Mullett was jailed for 18 weeks after being found guilty of claiming £13,000 in housing and council tax benefits. In the second election, Kay Hemmings has resigned as District Councillor for Yelvertoft, one of the areas fighting against wind-farms.

Three men have been arrested after a gang of up to 15 men assaulted two Asians on The Racecourse in Northampton, in what is believed to be a racially-motivated attack. Patrols in the area have been stepped up following the fight, which took place on Monday night when the park was busy, and Northamptonshire Police said it would be liaising with members of the community to ensure there were no simmering race tensions. So the police have stepped up patrols again, I thought they had stepped up patrols following a spate of muggings and attacks in the area earlier this year, or was this just to appease a restless public? A police spokesman said: "It was discovered that two Asian men were being assaulted by a large group of men, and it is thought there were up to 15 men in total in this group. The disorder was brought to a close by officers and, as a result, three of the group were arrested and were taken into custody. They were a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, and all three were white and from Northampton." So the previous muggings and attacks on white people were not deemed as racist, yet this attack is. Recent figures suggest racially-motivated hate crimes are falling steadily in Northamptonshire. According to Government statistics, there were 734 racist incidents in 2006/07, compared with 921 the previous year. The decrease has coincided with increased BNP activity in the county.

Plans have been revealed for a £12 million Hindu temple which could soon be built in Lumbertuns, Northampton. Just over a year ago, the Northampton-based Indian Hindu Welfare Organisation (IHWO) announced plans to build a temple, community centre and sports complex on land off Lings Way in Lumbertubs. The original plans included a temple with a pyramid-like structure on top of it. The latest designs for the building see the pyramid replaced with three towers, known as shikaras. Danny Parmar from the IHWO said the aim of the organisation was to make the complex accessible to the whole eastern district community, saying "We've designed it so it can be used by both the young and old and there will be a number of rooms that can be hired out for all kinds of uses." An all-weather football pitch and a gym will also be included in the development, and it could also feature solar panels and a 'green' roof seeded with plants. Plans for the development were submitted to Northampton Borough Council this month and the authority is expected to make a decision later in the year on whether the development should go ahead. The BNP in the county have good relations with the Hindus, many of who have admitted to voting for the BNP in recent elections.
